Sorry if said before but what position would he play in the midfield? I get the feeling he is a deep lying playmaker unless I am mistaken. So wouldn't fit an 8 who is more box to box. Not a 10 obviously. Can he play as a 6? Can he tackle and disrupt play? Im sure he would be fine at receiving the ball on the turn but wonder how he is defensively.

Given last night I can officially confirm that they all pretty much play everywhere. Lol.

This one is certainly taking some turns, I'd taken it as a given that he was going to Barcelona since when he's been to our place.
It's looking like his club are happy if he comes to us. and maybe even his agents are happy or at least don't mind either way.
I suppose it depends on whether or not he really did say he wants to go to Barcelona if he did we could always lend him to them for a few months. 😊

Aside from our interest put that to one side, I do question the player's club accepting a piss poor offer of €7 million for him. I think it's a piss take.
I believe the Swedish transfer record is something like 12m EUR (Hugo Larsson to Frankfurt). I doubt Bergvall is going for 7m, but I also doubt he's going for more than 12m.

Time will tell what his final position will be but he's adept in all 3 midfield positions. My guess is he'll become a 6 in the mold of Frenkie de Jong but can just as easy become an 8 in the same style as Sarr.

He visited the training ground etc? So not just a cheeky last minute punt from us then.

Who knows. Barca still have BDE but then so does Bayern compared to us.
Take this with a pinch of salt. A guy who has good connections inside Djurgården (his club) mentioned he visited our training ground in the last few days. Also mentioned he has talked to a few other clubs in England (named Man City).

Might be nothing. But thought I’d mention it.

From the little ive seen of him in clips etc i wouldnt say he's a 6 at all. I think he is more the 8 or even 10 to be honest. There is something of the Madders about him dropping a little deeper from the 10 position to open up play. Something i can see spurs doing more under Ange with the 6 being a traditional DM and the 8/10 alternating to come dep and connect up the play. As for this kid, looks like a madders with a little of the Modric/Dembele in the way he can seem to find a little space from tight situations. That said hes very young and playing in a much smaller league so I'm sure this would be one to watch for in a few years. It would be good if we could get him in for the HG status and see where he develops, clearly a talent hence the interest from Barca et al.

Going to Barca when you don't know who will be the manager or if they will want to play you

....or go to Spurs?

Kulu could hopefully be influential here. They have gone through the youth ranks in the same club back in Sweden. He knows what it is like to move to a new country and culture when you are very young and he knows what it is like to join one of the biggest clubs in the world and that the fun stops when you sit on the bench for too long.

I’ve held this thought for a long time but I am not sure why these “wonder kids” go to Barca, Real, Bayern, Chelsea etc

There’s 2 or 3 every year that make these mega switches to these giants, and sure the lights are bright and it’s a glamour move to one of the biggest clubs in the world, but they never get a chance and the next you hear about them they’ve signed for a bottom-end mid table club in Spain and have to kick start their career after not playing for 4 years. I’m trying to think of any success stories in recent years and can only think of Alphonso Davies and Rodrygo, and those were both 5 years ago!!!!!!!!

I am not saying he should come here. It still may be too big of a step. Look at the track record of clubs like Brighton, Dortmund, Ajax, Lyon among others. Why are these kids not looking there? If you’re good, you’ll make it there and you’ll be at a Bayern/Barca in 2-3 years and cement a first team place upon signing your contract.

Maybe I’m too cynical and this kid is the Swedish Messi, but I’ve seen too many of these stories. Really hope he pivots away from them (and maybe even us if he isn’t ready) for the sake of his own career.

That doesn't matter. He's joining Barca with all their history and prestige. He might never get the chance again if he doesn't sign now - that's what he'll be thinking.

The other thing I’d say, from living here 27 years, Swedes used to have closer emotional ties to the Premier League/First Division. Guys like Henke Larsson grew up with a show at 3pm every Saturday, Tipslördag, which screened a live Pl 3pm kick off. You have generations of Spurs, United, fans etc… but over the last decade or so with football on every channel I’ve seen more kids in Barca shirts than any other. Of course, it’s the Messi effect, too. For a while there were whoever Zlatan was playing for, but that’s gone, too. You know this kid grew up idolizing Messi, and that more than anything will sway him towards Barca. So it’s up to Deki and Ange to basically convince him even Messi left that state of a club ;) haha

Odegaard, to be fair. As much as I wish it wasn't so.

Yeah, but he didn’t really make it *there* did he? He wasn’t given a chance and was farmed out on loan as soon as he got tired of playing for Castilla in the Segunda. He went to a mid table club in Spain, propelled them up the table, then sat the bench for a half year in Madrid again before going to another mid table club in England.

He was one of those whose talent always destined him to be a success, but if he went to Arsenal before Madrid with the exact same results, he’d be a fixture in Madrid’s midfield right now. That’s just the way those clubs work.

But every one of them picture themselves leading an important team to a trophy.

When one of the giants comes looking at you - I think they feel invincible, and that they are ready to take that step (even if few actually are).

And, there would also be the concern that this is their only chance.

But I agree that players should look at Haaland as an example - uber wonder kid - goes to Dortmund to mature a bit physically and play - then gets his deal at City when he is better equipped to step in right away.
