Media reports this morning that the club fear it’s months rather than weeks and he could require surgery đŸ˜¢
Not unexpected but still awful news. He certainly won't be back before the new year. Let's hope he makes a full recovery.

Yeah after the initial disappoint I think it's better he gets it fully healed.

No point in trying to rush him back.

Anyone with eyes would say "months not weeks" looking at how he went off. It feels like any hopes of it somehow luckily being a shorter recovery time are diminishing to zero. If he's out until after the January transfer window at least it might force us to go out and get another proper centre back (depending on how whoever takes his spot when Cuti is back does of course).

Should have been done in the Summer, let alone January.

No excuses not to be brining in one now, the first week of the window.

Yeah the difference between VDV vs Chelsea and Johnson in the NLD was huge and suggests it is much more serious.

As I said above it was reminiscent of Toby vs Madrid at Wembley, which kept him out from 1st November until the end of January.

I would imagine the club will have a decent idea of the severity by now (a couple of days later). The bruising will be coming out and if it's significant and covering most of the hamstring that will be a sign it's likely a Grade 3 tear.

You can get bruising and swelling with Grade 2 but it will be much more significant with a Grade 3.

Excellent question. Why do people post and then not say where the information is coming from
When people post like that, I just instantly file it under ‘twitter’.
Especially if none of the reputable outlets have a whisper of it.
