Where do you get this figure? The fee for VdV is around £30m and Leverkusen want £40-45m for Tapsoba.

So signing 1 of VdV or Tapsoba would mean:

Vicario £16.3m
Maddison £40m
Solomon Free
VdV £30m/Tapsoba £45m
TOTAL £86.3m/£101.3m

And that’s before you take off Winks £10m, which brings the net spend down to £76.3m/£91.3m, way lower than what you said?

In fact with both of them the net spend would be £121.3m.

If we sold Sanchez and Tanganga for £10m each and Rodon for £5m that brings it down to £96.3m. Sell Hojbjerg for £30m and replace him with Gio and/or Tongee if they come good and that takes net spend down to £66.3m.

On your general question, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want the club to have a net spend of £100m considering our revenue and how much we are charged as fans.
When you look at the figures it begs the question why we’re not doing it?
Surely we can afford it and offset it a bit with sales.

I’m starting to think we could be working on 1 out 1 in and that’s why we haven’t moved on the CBs yet.

Probably not doing it as we have a bloated squad and bringing a load more players without getting rid of any leads you to a situation like Chelsea were (are?) in.

So, adding on Porro and Kulu, we’re over £100m net? (I think they were £47m and £30m but I really don’t remember)

But then if you add them in for this window, that means we didn’t spend any money in January for Porro (Porro was around £40m).

So whichever way you look at it, we should have a lot more money to spend.

We also swapped Conte's wages for Anges, which won't even be close. Can likely call that a £10m saving per year, before we've sold other players and sorted loans out.

There should be the money to bring in both VDV and Tapsoba here, even with us not being able to get proper market value for a bunch of players.

Depending on what arguement someone wants to make depends on when they see that money being spent.

We constantly heard how much Conte spent and had these fees apportioned to him. Now are adding them to this window spend.

Either way I'm sure the club are successfully spacing out the financial commitments to be a lot less upfront and more over time.

No wonder we can't sign Tapsoba and VdV because we've signed Porro and Kulusevski twice

Lol, we still doing this with a straight face?
Mate, I don’t give a monkeys about spend or net spend as I don’t run the club, but if people are going to throw numbers around as part of a discussion, it’s probably best if the numbers are as accurate as possible.

VDV predominately played left-back for Wolfsburg last season. They’ve been working on a deal for Inter left sided player Robin Gosens for the best part of a week which according to the news today they have been unsuccessful and are now targeting Verona left-back Josh Doig.

I suspect the VDV deal might be on hold until they sign a replacement. Let’s see if we see some movement in the coming days…

Ha ha, so you want the numbers to be as accurate as possible but your actual post said.....

"I think they were £47 million and £30 million but I don't really remember"

That right there is accuracy if ever I've seen it.

It's time to put the shovel down and stop digging dude. :D

Not true unfortunately.

He started 33 league games for them last season and played LB in 5 matches, CB in 28 matches.

So if we are looking for transfer movement there we need them to sign a CB.

Your main point is right even if your numbers are wrong. We've spent 40M, 34.5M, 25.6M, and 16.4M on 4 players this window, plus Solomon on a free. But you've made the SC cardinal sin of not agreeing that 2 of these players are somehow magically already paid for because they were on loan previously. Or that we'll be amortizing these costs until 2075 or something.

Try not to forget this place only runs on the idea that Spurs always buy low and sell high and Levy is a wheeler dealer genius who always gets the better side of a deal even if his tight ways and footballing incompetence undermine the club.

The thing is, in the last accounts we had an outstanding transfer debt of £250 million. That’s got to hurt at some point. Saying that, I agree, we should have enough money for signings. If not, you’ve got to wonder what we’ve been doing with it. (Eg. We paid off approx £20m loan for the training ground, which didn’t have to be paid until 2025, why do that instead of using it for transfers?).
