Feel bad for Ange. This is pathetic and short sited to not have a single new cb in by now. Levy and his advisors need to be put as far away from recruitment as possible. Anywhere else that would have been sacked for negligence.

You just don't get it........ Forget ITK! Forget the media! Forget it all, It's all irrelevant!

Purely look at where we are as a squad and our needs and then look at our recent history in transfer windows the past 3-4 years. Just look at the absolute facts and what we 100% know about our transfer history and tell me you think things will be definitely be different this time around and why.

For me even if we do address the CB problem we have still hamstrung the coach with him not being able to work with these players during preseason. It really is important to get the key positions sorted as early as you can if you want to hit the ground running.
Basic stuff really

I've seen them., they're also known as a glass of delusion & amnesia mixed, shaken not stirred :cautious:
Mate, I’m starting to wonder if the cocktail of apologist brown stuff he’s serving up has been paid for by Donna. I can’t believe there’s a single Spurs supporter that is happy to go into the season with what we currently have in central defence. This failure to upgrade our CBs, isn’t just a Summer ‘23 Transfer Window problem. It’s been an ongoing act of cheapskate negligence over 3 seasons and 3 managers. What genuine supporter of this football club defends that ineptitude?! And then sneers at those supporters who care enough about the team to be frustrated and typically disillusioned that we’re still waiting for this most pressing deficiency to be addressed? It’s easy for certain posters to blithely claim, “wait and see”, but those of us who give a shit about our football team’s success have every right to be concerned. Lived experience of transfer windows under Levy and this Board makes it pretty difficult not to be.

Out of curiosity, how did you feel when the last 4 windows closed and we needed a CB? Was it still wait and see?

The problem is, every window that drifts by another area of the team will then need addressed.

This window has started promising but it is looking same old in some aspects. ( hope I am proved wrong)

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if we sold PEH and bring in another midfielder before the CB we need.

This is exactly it. Our defence has been shit since Toby and Jan were passed it. We tried to cover that by playing 5 defenders and two kids in a low block and we're still shit.

We hired one of the most defensive managers in world football and he couldn't coach our CBS to not fuck up and concede shit goals. It cost him his job and we stuck with Dier, Davies, Sanchez and Tanganga.

This isn't a this window problem and there is simply no excuse. So many links come and go and we do nothing about it.

You will always have the Pro Levy brigade who will defend him to the end.
Sadly that is why Levy gets away with such negligence on the football side as very little backlash.

Peope were generally very happy last summer until results weren’t great and they were understandably not happy and then the re writing of history starts happening. I thought Romero was a good signing and obviously these things are an ongoing thing. Opinions shift over time. The main problem we’ve had is changing manager every 5 mins and we find ourselves in another “clean slate” scenario where the new manager understandably wants to assess existing players himself to see if they’re what he wants.

If we sign no CB this window I think that will be very poor but I can’t see us not signing one, whether they’ll add value or not is another question. Fingers crossed they’re great and Romero steps up and we have a strong CB partnership next season.

It’s not just going to be Tosin is it, Fulham’s CB is not going to be our marquee CB signing.
If we don't sell Kane I wouldn't be that shocked if it was something very underwhelming like Tosin and Lenglet. Would be quite a Levy thing to do.

If we do sell Kane then we're literally insane if we don't properly spend on a high quality LCB option as money can no longer be used as an excuse (and yes, you could argue we're insane for not doing that regardless of the Kane sale).

Levy gets away with it coz he’s the fucking boss and he can do what he wants. He ain’t going nowhere unless he chooses too. That’s the reality. I’m not pro or anti levy for what it’s worth.

You keep saying it's about whether they add value or not but surely you understand the importance of pre season and how much that can effect how much that player/team understands what they are required to do? The purpose of pre season is to get match fit and build understanding of what is required when the season starts. Surely you want them to add as much value as possible which means giving them a chance to bond and build understanding with their coach and team mates.

Don't do this to yourself mate 🤣
Right I know I’m probably being naive but I think things maybe slowed down because of the Kane/Hojbjerg situation so we know where our finances are.
I’m not for one second saying it’s the right move but that is the only thing that makes sense.
We need a left sided CB, Tosin predominantly plays on the right.

Im still convinced it’ll be VDV and Tosin.
As we sell Sanchez, Rodon and possibly Tanganga.
It’s just to bloody late.

I can’t believe that there are still people out there ‘defending’ our transfer strategies. How many times have we heard ‘let’s see where we’re at when the window closes’. It is the same every single year. No planning, no scouting, just opportune buys at the end of the window and then we wonder why we’ve got such a bloated squad. It is beyond a joke, it is downright incompetent. E17 must be on the board….

I swear people are just bored and looking a 'debate' so they trot out shit knowing loads will take the bait lol

I think on its own, signing a CB in July/August isn't the biggest deal. Ultimately as long as you get the players you want/need then that's the important part. Especially if you're buying them for 4-5 years. If we get our targets in before the window closes then overall that's good for me.

Looking around the league, I think there was a flurry of early activity but it's now gone a bit quiet. Partly with pre-season starting properly and teams focused on other things. Partly going past July 1st and what season the money counts for etc... and all of that. Even Man City are having a minor issue bringing Gvardiol in. The Rice transfer took Arsenal ages and all of that. So I think slow moving transfer activity isn't that bad.

Having said that though... I think it's really bad form from us. Because it is a problem position we've had for so long and has been the constant issue raised by managers and fans. It's wild that even from a business perspective Levy doesn't see it as such an urgent one to address in that kind of a way. Whilst overall it would be okay if we do end up with the right targets... this was of 'playing the game'. This way of doing deals seems to benefit no-one except Levy and the bottom line.
