Have I missed when Spurs went into administration because unless we are skint I simply do not understand why we are not filling the most obvious gap(s) in the team at centre back

You said keep banging on about it alongside the don't get mad. Hence my translation.

And people have been discussing that stuff in length alongside the CB Issue and it plays a part in the passion and frustration as going forward we have so much potential so if we just plugged the obvious gaps...
You mean when I said "it seems pretty pointless keep banging on about it in here", well it is. I mean if you come into a player thread to find it bombarded with people getting mad about a report why be surprised if people try to offer some calm rationale? So now people are moaning about the people who are not moaning and trying to keep calm about it

It's as pointless banging on about it as it is talking about anything else on here. Nobody posting on this forum is making a blind bit of difference to the club and yet we all do it because it's a place to discuss/share/vent.

You're calm rationale is someone else's pointless defence. Were all moaning about something.

For the record I agree about getting wound up by every snippet, it's going to drive you insane if you do but I will defend those angry about the state of it at the moment because I think they/we have a point.

For me - I really want Tapsoba or vdV

BUT I keep getting a feeling that the club may think there are other options/dominoes to fall IF Kane does leave - anyone else think that?

Not making excuses, not saying it's the right thing to do, not even saying vdV or Tapsoba isn't good enough. I just feel they think if Kane goes there could be someone they deem "better" value/prestige will come available.

Even if Kane stays if we want to show ambition as a club we need both VDV and Tapsoba. Kane money should be to replace Kane, but we don’t operate like that as we already know.

I agree with you. If it were me in charge I would have them both signed and working with Ange already lol

But when I was looking around last night and saw players like Pavard, Kimpembe, and a few others have 1-2 years left on their deals and transfers could happen - I just wonder if the club are sniffing around different options. Not saying those players definitely but I just feel there's a lot of potential movement left to happen in this market and Kane would obviously be a huge domino if so.

I just find it crazy that a team that conceded over 60 goals in a season did not think to make a CB a priority knowing that we was going to have a new manager coming in trying to implement a new philosophy.

It's like they want to make it as difficult as possible for Ange. A proper club would have planned for this, i really don't understand this whole situation.

We are not talking about 70-100 mil transfers. This was reported for what? 25-30 mil? Do we not have any money left? It's a ridiculous situation to put ourselves in. You'd argue our CB's situation was more important than bringing Madders in (Who was a great signing)
With the unaltered defence and the uncertainty over Kane it's pretty obvious we're likely to have a shaky start to the season which might continue for a while. I don't think cups and European qualification are realistic targets until these major issues are addressed. During this time it's vital we as fans don't turn on the manager and keep our criticism laser-focused on the board and their lack of ambition.

What's the point in identifying targets only to then refuse to pay the fees.

"we tried"

I optimistically thought that it might get done once the tour ended but the silence is deafening. When it is like that it is usually because fuck all is happening.

Shouldnt there be a list with this data driven approach anyway so we can move down it???

we always ALWAYS not fix our major problems, leaving the holes become larger and larger. such incompetence is sackable in other industries but yet this baldy twat is the highest paid chairman in Premier League, at the expense of us as fans

I'm not angry because our ambition is not to win. If it was we would have signed the CB a year or two ago. our entire transfer modus operandi is about opportunity and deals.

difficult to disagree, but it's fucking galling/disgusting that the players, staff, fans, manager etc. have to temper their ambitions to fall into line with the tossers upstairs.

To be honest, if the fans do temper their expectations and go along with it whilst still paying the ticket prices, they deserve all they get.

I don't know why people are surprised that this transfer or Tapsoba is "difficult." Levy spending above what he believes to be the "going rate" rarely happens unless his back is against a wall.

Peope were generally very happy last summer until results weren’t great and they were understandably not happy and then the re writing of history starts happening. I thought Romero was a good signing and obviously these things are an ongoing thing. Opinions shift over time. The main problem we’ve had is changing manager every 5 mins and we find ourselves in another “clean slate” scenario where the new manager understandably wants to assess existing players himself to see if they’re what he wants.

If we sign no CB this window I think that will be very poor but I can’t see us not signing one, whether they’ll add value or not is another question. Fingers crossed they’re great and Romero steps up and we have a strong CB partnership next season.
Majority weren't happy we didn't sign a CB and the same is true again.

Is he better than what we have? Serious question?

If we have a limited budget why this guy? I put him more in the Tosin bracket.....

If it was just this transfer window I'd be inclined to be more forgiving but it's been 3 years mate that whoever our manager has been has wanted the CB's upgraded, 3 bloody years. That unfortunately is just us.
That just kicked in some home truth which is really sad. 3 years, 6 transfer window and the fact majority if not all spurs are hoping for a change in our approach, believing there will be a change with every new manager. But it's the same irrespective of the manager.

I just give up with my expectations honestly.

Mate, I’m starting to wonder if the cocktail of apologist brown stuff he’s serving up has been paid for by Donna. I can’t believe there’s a single Spurs supporter that is happy to go into the season with what we currently have in central defence. This failure to upgrade our CBs, isn’t just a Summer ‘23 Transfer Window problem. It’s been an ongoing act of cheapskate negligence over 3 seasons and 3 managers. What genuine supporter of this football club defends that ineptitude?! And then sneers at those supporters who care enough about the team to be frustrated and typically disillusioned that we’re still waiting for this most pressing deficiency to be addressed? It’s easy for certain posters to blithely claim, “wait and see”, but those of us who give a shit about our football team’s success have every right to be concerned. Lived experience of transfer windows under Levy and this Board makes it pretty difficult not to be.
And yet, everyone who has (extremely valid) concerns about the direction of this window has been shot down by the same condescending tripe spewed on here every year by the same people.

Nobody can predict the future, but the last two decades of transfer windows under ENIC paint a pretty clear picture
