Dembele has been with us for 2 and a half years. Were you saying he was shit in his first season?

If you were, fair enough, but I'd still disagree with that. I thought he was very good in his first season.

I said he was shit 2 Januaries ago. I just can't find my posts going back in January 2012, when I said he was just dribbling from sideline to sideline and then dribbled back from where he started, and had no end product at all. At that time at least 70% of those who posted about him disagreed and I must say I got most of my neg ratings for my opinion about him.

Once again I'm saying he's a useless player. See how many disagree this time.

That he's poor now doesn't make you right about 2012/2013. I'd say that he carried our central midfield after Sandro got injured with Parker showing the positional disipline and smartness of a puppy.

I really don't think Dembele will be a success at Spurs even though he has all the tools to be one. The technical quality that Eriksen and Lamela possess means Dembele will never be a key player in our side. Our deeper midfielder's need to be quick and tidy on the ball which is why Mason is a starter now. I know for a fact that if we sold Dembele he would find his old form. Said the same about Sigurdsson who I maintain that we shouldn't have sold.

Yeah,I would agree with this and for the life of me I really can't understand what's happened to him.
I remember watching a video of him and Vertonghen getting interviewed when they were on International duty.Jan gave him a bit of a ribbing and Dembele really didn't like it,acted like a big baby and walked away.
He has all the attributes to be a top player but it just looks like he is mentally weak or just hasn't the drive and ambition to really want it.
He constantly holds onto the ball for far too long and will turn away from making a simple quick pass to someone in space.
I have defended him plenty of times but its got to the point now where I don't think he can change things around here and needs to move somewhere else.

....most underrated player at Spurs by far - amazing ability to shield the ball and keep possession - should start all the "big" games...

You do realize this is a Dembele thread right?

Quite sad really to see what's happened to him - it's as if he's gone further and further into his shell to the point where all he now does is the 'shield the ball, go sideways, go backwards' thing and nothing else.

He didn't play like that when he first joined, he was part of the most dominant CM2 in the league for 5 months with Sandro until the latter got injured.

Were we unlucky enough to lose these two purely to injury? Would be a massive shame if that's it for him.

How much would you have sold Modric for, before he kicked on?

I cant remember Modric's early days at Spurs. I remember being underwhelmed.
I also think he improved rapidly in his last 18 months here and has kicked on again at Real.

There is always a risk of a player proving people wrong. But I would be saying goodbye Dembele by the summer.

He struggled in his first season at Madrid.

Not all of us. I lay my bollocks on the line and call it how I see it. Been saying Dembele is shit for well over a year, and I'll say it now, Capoue is shit too, as is Soldado.

Calm down mate, you're not puttin your life on the line in Afghanistan, it's only saying whether a player is shit or not on a forum

Also, looks like you've been saying those players are shit, since they've been playing shit. Not exactly a massive call...

Dembele is a player I have been very disappointed with. He has such great ability on the ball and seems to be a strong guy, but struggled with hip injuries in his time at Spurs. To me he is a bit of "a mystery" in the way that I believe he has great ability when he glide past players but there is seldom a end product which gains the team when he plays these days. Very disappointed with him I must say.
