Danny Rose to Sunderland was a career-changing loan, for the better...

A player like Oduwa was always going to struggle in League One and below. The pitches, the players not being on his wave length, not many have had very successful loan periods.

Mate, it's 2017... the pitches in league one are not going to hamper his performances, it's not like playing at Walsall in the 70's and Ibrox is a top level stadium.

You're also way over crediting him by saying the players are not on his wavelength, the Estonian league is hardly going to be flooded with top players.

If that were the case, you'd think the coaches working with him every day would spot it.

I was told that there was contract issues as he wasn't going to sign an extension and that was the main reason he wasn't given a chance with the first team.

If I remember correctly he was being given a chance with the first team in the preseason before last. He was doing very well and then the complications happened regarding his contract.

It then all seemed to go downhill for the lad.

It's a real shame.

He's flattered to deceive on a few loan moves, isn't anywhere near the first team and I don't see him having any kind of future with us.

Good luck to him though and I hope he goes on to have decent career somewhere.

IIRC he did pretty well at Rangers. But yeah if Poch doesn't rate him then it's time to let him move on.

It wasnt really, Danny Rose was arguably in the same position as Oduwa is in now. He was 20 years old didnt have one good loan.

It was only until the academy recalled him and forced him upon harry that he was given a chance to do well and get a good loan in sunderland.

People praise the academy for producing these top players but at the same time they are writing off players because they havent done anything to apparently prove themselves by the age of 20.

If Danny Rose was subjected to the same conditions as Oduwa and moved to Slovenia probably because someone at the club gets on well with Milan Mandaric, he wouldn't be the best LB in the league right now

It's a transfer rather than a loan by the sounds of things.

Got a feeling I know how this move will go. It's pretty obvious it will end in tears.

You're talking as though he's being mistreated and forced out of the club. Is this based on anything?
No, but this type of loan, is so bizarre, its hard to get your head round it

The only reason for sending him there is because Milan Mandaric owns the club, often friends of the club will ask for a couple of players, like when Timmy was in charge, we sent a couple to Swindon(before the partnership), Millwall(worked out great for Kane but bad for the other two) and etc.

Sending him to the MLS isn't a bad idea but slovenia just seems crazy especially after last season the manager got sacked after being racist.

I was reading it as a transfer, not loan?

Very strange move for the lad. Did very well at Rangers when he started, then went off the boil very quickly and was sent back to Spurs. Real shame, looked a real prospect.

Good luck to him, hope he manages some kind of career. Never good enough for Spurs, the Premier League or possibly English League football full stop. If he had to bet money on where he'd end up, I'd say he'll become a professional freestyle footballer. He's a bag of tricks and not much else really.

Never good enough? Was that necessary?

It's just the brutal reality of football sadly. The vast majority of players that pass through our academy will never make it. It's probably a single digit percentage that go on to actually play for Spurs. The writing was on the wall for Oduwa when he was first loaned out. Under Poch, that's basically the end of your Spurs' career. He's been kept on because the club hoped he'd realise some kind of transfer value, maybe 250k - 500k, though in the end they may have not even got that as he didn't perform well in lower leagues loans, so both his and our options were limited.
