Phillips really made a poor career choice, don’t think he’s started a single meaningful game for City thus far.
It's Danny Drinkwater all over again. I can understand the attraction of wanting to go there, but hes not a good fit.

Anyway, Skippy. Best performance for us?

I am delighted for Skippy. He was looking seriously impressive before he had those injuries so it's brilliant he's coming back into his own. Not least because we're a bit light on quality in cm.

Nowhere near as spectacular but the goal today reminded me ever so slightly of that Danny Rose volley against Arsenal:

A young player getting his first goal for Spurs with a powerful shot from range right into the middle of the goal that leaves the keeper on his arse...

First of many I hope! Will do absolute wonders for his confidence.

Delighted for him when I realised it was him who scored. Having two of our own score the goals today just made it seem more special.

Said it all along this lad is quality. He is so good defensively too. Whenever a team breaks he is always in the right position so they never have an easy pass into a dangerous area, he always gives them the most difficult option to continue the move, or he takes the ball off them and moves it on. As a young DM there really aren’t many better at all

Lad is class. Can’t believe some fuckwits want him sent on loan in January
I think a number of those that suggested a loan was more for minutes as they weren't coming too often and were needed to help get his levels back.

He's only getting as many games and mins now because of rodrigos injury which has created the opportunity.

Was always a stupid suggestion as it left us vulnerable to injuries.

As one of those fuckwits I admit I've been proven very wrong (I thought one of either him or Sarr should've been loaned to get minutes).

I've always been a huge champion of Skipp though - just felt like under Conte he was going to fester on the bench. And he would've if it wasn't for 2 big injuries to CMs at exactly the same time.

TBF before we went down like flies with the injuries; there certainly was a reasoned discussion for at least one of our CM's to go on a short loan spell as Skipp and Sarr really needed games for their development, at that point in the season of the little we'd seen from both Skipp appeared to be rustier of the two.

So had he got a 6 month PL loan arrived back in the summer a much more polished article everyone looks like genius.

I like Skipp and whenever he's had a run in the the team (or even the entire season for Norwich) he's looked more than useful so I certainly wouldn't have been loaning him because he's a poor player but if it was the only way to give him game time to get fitter and sharper I don't see the argument against it.
After all one of the reasons he's now looking so much better is... he's getting game time (yes I'd rather Bents and Bissy hadn't got injured) but be honest would Skipp have looked this decent today but for injuries?

He'd possibly have been lucky to get the one Milan away match and maybe 10-20 minutes total in the other fixtures total.

Unfortunately one of our biggest issues is we need to have our younger players get meaningful games (that doesn't mean handing it out unmerited like sweeties; they rightly need to earn it) some of our loans have been baffling i.e loaning the wrong players to wrong clubs or managers. Some of that isn't the clubs fault (e.g a manager in the lower leagues gets the boot 3 games after we loan them and the next coach doesn't use them) the pathway from the academy has been a mess.

Says a lot about Conte. We've got a special player in Sarr too, and Bissouma needs game time. No need to be running anyone into the ground but we all know Skipp and Sarr wouldn't have got a sniff without our injury problems.
