Always liked Pap but think I've been guilty of not quite realising just how important he is for us/ how good he can be.

I originally assumed Bentancur would potentially take Sarr's place in our midfield - however as you say - he's so important I think Bissouma's place is more at risk of Bentancur coming back in.

Not sure about that, Sarr bossed the midfield under Conte against Milan, he is much more athletic than either of the other two and does the defensive work.

There is no excuse for Conte as Sarr was incredible out in Milan and showed why he should be playing back then.

Pape could potentially miss five matches if Senegal win AFCON for which they are favourites , will be a big miss .

PS . AFCON is from 13th Jan to 11th Feb if Senegal reach final he would miss Man U away 14th Jan, Brentford home 30th Jan, Everton away 3rd Feb , Brighton home 10th Feb and probably Wolves home 17th Feb.

Along with Bissouma - Conte wanted cloggers (sounds harsh but meant in a way of players who aren't of the athletic/technical mould) in the midfield which is his call as a manager but it shows why he is not employed currently.

He’s an exceptional athlete with an excellent reading of the defensive side of the game. If he can add a bit of extra nous in the last third, he’ll be an exceptional footballer too. But he’s already a fantastic find for our side.

I'll be honest, more than I realised we would.
Boy's got such an engine and is going to become such an integral part of our team going forward.
If we can continue to pick up players like him, we can really push forward without having to spend big money on big names.

True. I think those 5 supplemented with promising youth players like donelly/devine is enough

Spend the money on forward players

Gio, Hojberg and Skipp should generate 60mil and none would need replacing

We could do with a promising under 21 defensive mid? Are there any candidates?
