Tottenham wants to give Antonio Conte to Pedro Porro

Negotiations opened by the London club for Sporting's Spanish right-back. The wish would be to incorporate him in January, but for Sporting he is a capital player.

Tottenham is looking to give Conte the improvement in the squad that he has been asking for as one of the conditions to renew the contract that ends in June. One of the positions that the Italian coach wants to reinforce is that of right back. The London club spent almost 15 million on the young Spence last summer, but Conte hardly has him . In addition, the most experienced Doherty (30 years old) has not just entered the Italian's eyes either. The starter has been Emerson Royal, whom Atlético tried to sign last summer, but Tottenham refused to release him on loan. Conte wants a profile that is more suited to his idea, to those wingers with whom he likes to lavish himself so much.

In that sense, the objective is Pedro Porro. At the moment there are open talks for the 23-year-old Spanish right-back from Sporting de Portugal. Negotiation is not easy. The defense renewed until 2025 and has a termination clause of 45 million, although its price is lower. Tottenham is willing to pay an amount between 25 and 30 million now, but for Sporting the worst is the moment. For the renewed Rúben Amorim, coach of the Lisbon club, he is a capital player.

Sporting will continue in Europe, playing in the Europa League, and is three points away from the Champions League positions in the Portuguese league. In January they will also face Benfica. Tottenham would like to incorporate the Spanish footballer in January and is considering reaching those amounts, between 25 and 30 million. For Sporting he is too important a player to lose him in January. In summer it would be something else. However, Tottenham still want to play their cards to try an offense that also serves to please Conte. Porro is on the agenda of several European teams. He has been there for the last few months. In the summer it was Bayern who were interested in him, but decided to bet on a much cheaper option like Mazraoui's, who was ending his contract at Ajax and, in addition, his arrival was linked to that of Gravenberch, with whom he shared representatives .

Tottenham accelerates conversations and Sporting has a bar to negotiate

Pedro Porro is one of the main highlights of Sporting's recent months and is, at this stage, the most attractive target for other emblems in the January market. However, as far as O JOGO was able to learn, SAD rejects balances for the athlete, setting the minimum bar to negotiate at 35 million euros.

Anyone else see us spending 3 weeks negotiating before someone else comes in and pay the release clause?

Based on all the noises surrounding this deal I struggle to see us signing this guy in Jan, but really hope I'm wrong.

Feels like he could be a really crucial piece of the puzzle for us getting top 4, a bit like Bentancur and Kulu were last Jan.

I think the complete opposite based on all the noise.

This one seems most likely to me ??‍♂️

idk I can't remember the last player we signed that had a bunch of noise around them. Always feels like our signings come out of nowhere for the most part

this has man city buying him back with their buyback clause just to F us.
I can’t see that at all - if you watched the City match last night you would’ve noticed they have a very talented young right back already. They’ll just be happy to take their sell on fee

Ah, you could be right there actually. Wrong terminology used. I still don’t see them exercising the buyback. If he was a left back, then I’d say it would be highly likely.

I was on their fan forum and there is zero mention of Porro. They are looking at LB

A 30% sell-on clause has also been reported by multiple sources. It's possible that both clauses exist, as both parties would have considered his potential to be worth far more than the €8.5m that Sporting paid. It was an option-to-buy that was included in Sporting's two-year loan agreement - negotiated while Porro was only 20.

What’s the percentage we still retain in Marcus edwards?
Feel sure I’d seen somewhere it was 50% of any possible transfer coming back to us.
If we said his valuation was approx £25m, then us renegotiating that could knock a handy £12m off the final price we had to pay Sporting for PP.

This is the player I want the most this January. I really feel like he would be another Bentancur/Kulusevski type signing for us.

Yes we have a 50% sell-on clause for Edwards. Although not necessarily his value, he has a £52m release clause, which implies that Sporting values that 50% significantly above £12m...I'm sure we'd be highlighting that in any negotiations for Porro that involves voiding the sell-on clause for Edwards. It certainly gives us some useful bargaining power during January, if the reports are true and we intend to sign two players (i.e. more cashflow available for the second player).

Edwards is averaging a goal/assist every 1.5 games this season. If he keeps that rate going, it's a 25% improvement on last season (shows he's progressing not plateauing). It's the kind of offensive stats and development trajectory that could feasibly attract substantial bids in the summer - particularly as he's replicated this productivity in the CL, not just the Portuguese league. Therefore, we should be mindful of not undervaluing how much that 50% sell-on clause is worth during negotiations for Porro.
