He looks a bit burnt out. He's not a bad player, certainly not near a wanyama type level and I do think we could do better.

Can't believe he tried to blame Regulion yesterday for his balls up though, some cheek o_O

With Hojbjerg I really do get the sense that he thinks he is levels above where he actually is and whilst he is great at running around and shouting at people and then posting rallying cries to Instagram the limitations in his game are becoming more and more obvious each week.

The way he went off at Reguilon yesterday when the only one at fault was himself for 1. bottling a weaker foot shot and 2. not being able to play a 3 yard pass summed that up perfectly.

Yeah I don't have a problem with Hojbjerg at all. I look at him and often think that he has more desire to receive the ball and attempt to progress with it than any of our actual 'creative' midfielders.

At least he actually shows for the ball in midfield and moves to receive it again. It's hard to run a midfield when you're the only one who wants to pass the ball.

His passing in the first half of the season was much, much more progressive and brave than anyone else, and for a holding midfielder, it impressed me. And for a destroyer I was excited to see him at the base of our midfield, breaking up play and quickly, progressively moving the ball forward, as he showed that intent and ability. Now the confidence is shot across the squad, the rest of the team are hiding from passes, so now we play with a fear and lethargy that sucks the pace and impetus out of the midfield.

He looks fooked and burnt out, physically and emotionally - he's invested in every kick, and I wish we had a whole team that seemed to care as much as he does sometimes. But being the team we are atm it seems like we have chipped away and managed to make another player seem average and flawed, on the verge of becoming another scapegoat when really a victim of the current shiteness that we have brought upon ourselves the last season.

The best cm at the club by miles, the rest around him are useless. The last player we should be questioning is Hoj imo.

Need to build the centre of the pitch around him, bring in players who can receive the ball and move it forwards into dangerous areas and into the attacking players.

I think he's been the best CM at the club this season because we spent the whole season playing a style which focuses on the aspects of football which are his strengths. Hopefully if we get the managerial appointment correct Ndombele and Lo Celso will finally justify why we spent the money we did on them.

I’m sorry but every week his limitations are more obvious Carragher has also picked it out on MNF he hides from the ball at times plays it backwards at every chance

Everyone is copping it it seems not just Hojbjerg
Reguilon is another odd one for me. Guy clearly has a ton of ability and has shown it for good parts of the season. Give him new life under a new manager and I think we see way more of the good again.

Nah not for every player as some have shown themselves before Jose. It's not all on him. PEH isn't one of those however, we've just run him into the ground

I get the heat for some but I just think anything that happens at this point or for most of the last few months is a total write off for any of these guys brought in the last 2 years (minus Doherty he is terrible).

I think the new man in charge will most likely not get the rebuild we're all asking for and so we need to hire the right man who can extract the best out of what we have namely that expensive quartet we signed in Bergwijn, Reguilon, Ndombele and Lo Celso.

he's a limited player imo, not against him as such and he's probably had a better season than most but i don't get all this that he's a world beater. if he's as good as some say he is than without him we would be in a right mess but we are in a right mess with him. i don't expect him to fix it all on his own but if he's that good our midfield surely wouldnt be as bad as it is - almost the worst in the division imo

I like Hojbjerg and think he is a great option to have in the squad. However, in terms of quality, as a DM, I see him a fair bit away from the very best in the league.

One thing I've noticed about him is he isn't the most difficult of players to get away from. If you come into his area, he'll get his foot in and make it difficult for the opposition with his physicality. However if you have a yard on him, good chance you'll get away from him. Think he knows that and is much happier sitting rather than pushing further up looking to put fires out because he knows he isn't the quickest or most dynamic if he needs to chase back.

This is where the likes of Fabinho, Kante and Ndidi are so effective. They are literally all over you like a rash and even if you have a yard on them, you know they won't be too far away snapping at your heels and hounding you whereas with Hojbjerg, he doesn't seem to have that ability to eat up ground and get about the pitch as dynamically.

He is almost a throwback to a 90's type DM who would sit in front of the back 4 and sweep up but think that position demands much more nowadays due to the speed and intensity of the game. Almost as though you need to have the engine and dynamism to be able to go putting fires out further up the pitch and in a larger area rather than before.

I called it during season, like many spurs fans did and being proven right.

Hojbjerg and Son are burnt out. Its obvious. Mourinho played them 2 in nearly every game midweek weekend midweek, a lot of pointless games. Even in games we were cruising he kept them on. You watch them compared to 1st half of season and they look shattered about 30mins in.

If Ten Hag rumours are true he absolutely loves Hojbjerg. They were close to signing him but we got in there.

It will be so nice to have Skipp back next season and have those two rotate or play next to each other at certain times. I feel a lot better with those two at CDM. Now to sort out the Box-to-Box role..

Think he has been the biggest victim once the squad lost faith in Mourinho’s methods. At the start of the season when we were getting results the players were prepared to follow the defensive style. Hojbjerg perfectly suited this style as we defended in numbers. Once the results dried up the players started to drop the intensity and it leaves Hojbjerg more exposed. As he isn’t the quickest he can get passed around relatively easily.
