I literally saw this guy control the ball at the half way line then just boot it out of play for reason whatsoever. Like just for no reason, then looked around at everyone. He’s been one of our biggest problems and has been for the last 2 seasons.
He hasn't been one of our biggest problems he really hasn't.

While i do agree he did "hide" abit under Conte and often played backwards. We have to take in to consideration that we were outmaned in almost every match in midfield in that system.

Yes there are high class midfielders that can receive the pass and always turn and find a forward pass, but those are gems. When you only have 2 in midfield and our strenght should be the wingbacks, which we did not master at all, as we becanme to defensive,
i do not think it is fair to critisise him to much. will guaranteed be better in a midfield 3 imo. As others have said here also, when he is allowed to go forward and when we have put in an extra midfielder, he has provided some good forward passing and runs, even goals, which is rare for any defensive midfielder, specially in that dredded system we played.

When he plays alongside Bentancur in that midfield 2 he looks a lot better, I like his passion and desire, so personally I'm hoping he stays and Ange can coach him to his full potential. He scored some good goals and important assists last season.

I know there’s been some talk of us going for Lavia if PEH leaves, I can’t remember which ITK mentioned him, but apparently Southampton are looking for £50 mil and Liverpool are supposedly “in the race since Monday” according to Romano. Even if the fee is less (which I assume it will be) I can’t see us getting involved at even £40 mil. Plus Liverpool really need CM’s so I could see them being a much more attractive prospect. Also until PEH actually moves I can’t really see us bringing in another CM.

If AP wants to go with Benta/Biss/Maddison in the midfield we could absolutely use a player of PEH's quality coming in for the last 30 mins. If we are meant to press as hard as most on here think then having multiple rotation options surely cannot be a bad thing.

Yeah it’s a shame, but having a year or two to learn behind and rotate with Fabinho is probably a very attractive option for him.

Yeah, we've got no chance if Liverpool are interested.

He's nailed on to go there as the heir to Fabinho.

Bissouma showed more at the end of the season than hojbjerg did all year
Showed more of what exactly? Clearly not more goals or assists (12 goals & assists vs. 0 goals & assists).

Hojbjerg was not as terrible as some people like to think. Just like Emerson, fans are using him as a scapegoat for the team underperforming.

I like Hojbjerg personally and would he keen to see what he does with Ange. If we get a good offer I'm happy if he goes but if not we will need him with Bentancur not around.

🙄

Blimey, there are some massive over-reactions on both side of this debate over the past few pages.
Hojbjerg is a decent player but Rice is better, that doesn't make PEH "shit".
Rice is over priced at 105m but that doesn't make him overrated.

It's like some people have to lurch from one extreme to the other, without being able to see any middle ground.

That is what this site has become in recent years....

I don't particularly love him but some of the unnecessary shit he gets is so over the top I've become one of his staunchest defenders

Not sure hojbjerg would want to be a bit part player.

double standards on your part
I think it's a bit different, a heat of the moment remark in a match thread, to calmly slagging off a player in his own thread, off-season.

I'd think you'd find very few members who haven't called any player names in a match thread, it's kinda what they're all about.
Reacting to the game as it's happening.

Calling someone a daft **** for making a mistake in a game, or missing a guilt edged opportunity, is vastly different to sitting in the player thread and doubling down that they're "shit", "Sunday league level" or "a waste of space"

That just shows @yido_number1 's tenacity! 🤣
Or the fact that it took 30 seconds to go on his profile and look at his activity. Point is you cant call others out for not rating a player and then go and call another a dumb ****.

We're allowed not to rate a player and come on here and discuss why. Some players like Dier everyone piles on, others like Hojbjerg vanilla and mixed opinions.

I find people that post stuff like DK more annoying than people that will come on and create an arguement against and try and influence. Theres too much snobbery on here these days and way too much tribalism.

Let’s be honest, people only like to police the forum when the opinions differ from there own.
