Because I refuse to participate in a witch hunt? The man has been under fire since he got here. I’ve said previously why I think that a part of it (the personal and non-football stuff mostly) is grossly unfair. I never said he should be exempt from criticism.
When a majority (or loud minority as it probably is) throw the same amount of garbage after another player, I’ll be in that thread trying to nuance that picture as well.

You’ve decided it’s a witch hunt because you can’t see what he’s been doing wrong.

It’s not a witch hunt, he is what he is as a player and that’s very limited. If the whole purpose of Spurs is improving, it means better players. Spurs are not going to go up a level with Hojberg, his level is probably somewhere around where we have been the last few years. He isn’t crap but he also isn’t what we need to get better, that’s the harsh reality of top level sport and wanting to actually win something.
This and other answers to my post:
Is it really that difficult to understand that I’m NOT taking about most of the criticism he gets for his footballing skills or lack thereof, but mostly about all the irrelevant ott bullsh** about him dodging responsibility, blaming others, pointing being a problem, not caring and so on?

I do not think he is a bad player, and I also think something in his general personality and attitude annoys people leading to scrutiny of every little detail and mistake, and that contributes to him getting more stick than any other player when he plays a bad game. But I do not think he is a starter and I respect that there are different opinions. What I don’t respect is attacks on players’ mentality, motives or personality without any basis.

I don’t see much talk other than his limited abilities, hence not a witch hunt as I said. I don’t think he is a bad player either just not good enough to where we are trying to go. That’s it. I don’t know what motivates him personally so I never comment on that, I
just comment on how I see him performing on the pitch. I think he is committed I don’t think he could be labelled otherwise, he clearly tries but I think as I said his level is below where we need to be.

For me he reminds me of players like Steffen Freund is the past, hard working and committed but ultimately just not skilful enough and to limited to get to where we need to go. Ok of which is actually a players fault, every player has a level of ability they can reach.

They both have no place in this squad IMHO, when I quite like them myself. Unless we are getting Conte or another pragmatic coach, they just can't fit into this setup and play anymore.
I don't hate either of them. But I love Spurs more. These are players that doesn't help the project.

He gets maligned on what he offers offensively, but it's his defensive game that is more of an problem
Always looks awkward and off balance I don’t think he is actually a CDM as such I think box to box in a 3 he’s a very good player as he shows for Denmark can see him ending up back at Bayern

Agree.

Not a straight comparison by any means but I remember people praising Sissoko's work rate. But if you watched there were loads of times he didn't chase back or put his body on the line to make a block.

Hojbjerg also ball watches and his defensive game isn't as good as many think.

I really hoped we'd find a buyer in the summer as his contract length means time to cash in is running out. I really hope someone puts in a suitable bid in January.
