If you factor in an ange center forward hardstanding touches the ball and is just their to get on the end of through balls, crosses and cut backs then richarlison has to be a number 9

He is not good enough to play left forward

Couple of things.

It goes to show how challenging it is to find genuine goalscorers.

Secondly, last season was a write off for so many players in our squad. Romero was dreadful, Kulusevski started well and faded.

Only Kane was in form and I think that's because he was playing for himself as he had nothing to prove to us anymore. He wasn't fighting to earn his worth. No pressure. Relaxed.

Richy was trying to prove himself to us in a shit environment, a volatile coach, and with an injury. He also was moved all over the shop.

I didn't evaluate his first season with us, I don't think thats fair.

It's all about how he does this season going forward.

In Ange's system yeah he is a 9.

I actually think we are ok there now.

Son can rotate there and Veliz to come through.

Need another winger though.

Bentancur was the other in form before he got injured. It was a funny season though , so many under performed. We have to give the benefit of the doubt for the likes of Richarlison. He's only on his 2nd season for us and he was struggling through injury.

What would we consider a good season now in terms of Goal scoring return? If he can get 12-15 id be happy.
If he hits 10 it would be still be good because I'd back him to have more assists too. Either way I think he gets to 20+ goal involvements personally. He's already at 7 in 14 and is starting to pick up the pace

We absolutely should stick with him til the end of the season. Higher priorities elsewhere on the pitch.

Players with 3 or more goals in top 2 and us.

Son 10
Kulusevski 5
Richarlison 4
Maddison 3
Romero 3

Saka 5
Nketiah 5
Ødegaard 4
Trossard 3
Havertz 3
Rice 3

Salah 11
Jota 4
Nunez 4

Our top scorer is Son, he's been the main attacker.
Richarlison has played with issues and we now see what he can do fully fit,
maybe he'll get 15.
Interesting statistics there. Actually goes to show how reliant Liverpool are on their forwards whereas there's goals right across the team for the North London clubs

I agree with that. The only reason that would change is if (and it's very unlikely) we get a mega offer, and we have someone else genuinely additive (not Toney) lined up.

Otherwise, he's adding value - stick for now

Fattening the pot for a sale to Saudi 😉 (nah I’m glad we holding on to him and he’s producing)

Did he go off injured? Mentioned he was holding his back.
He looked like he felt something go when he went to run the ball past a player when Sarr was down after being stamped on. He semi pulled up and then crouched down and didn't look to be moving right after that moment. Got subbed off a few mins after. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Resolving his injury must make a noticeable difference, but Richarlison is one of the most striking examples of a confidence player.

That Newcastle game has transformed him. Even his close control has significantly improved.

Very happy for him.

Ange said he suffered a back spasm yesterday but was desperate to play. Will have treatment overnight but will be fine for next match. Said we'd have to wait on Romero.

At this point every time one of our players even moves I expect them to pull up injured or mistime a tackle and get sent off . This season is traumatising.
