It's weird as he looked class in the brief cameo but I've seen Juventus fans say he's one of the worst midfielders they've had in years, even worse than Aquilani.

Something doesn't add up. Cautiously optimistic that he will be very good for us, but I wonder why so much negativity over him from some of their fans. Inclined to think they are just sour grapes or something.
Of course, Juventus fans are very demanding.

You wont see them celebrating the "resurgence" of an average player like Winks

Tbf you should have read done the takes on Trippier’s last season with us. And the he moves in to A.Madrid and becomes a key component in their title winning side.

Overall team form, and the decrease in individual player confidence, can have drastic effects on how a player is performing and how he is perceived by fans of that team. We’ve had many examples in recent that tell us this.

Maybe, just maybe, he is one piece of two towards absolution for us in the middle of the park. We were never stronger than when we had Wanyama and Dembele under Poch, two high quality players in their defined roles. The tactics may be different under Conte but the need is the same. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of PEH and also of Winks and what he can bring as a homegrown rotation player, but really, we are probably one more high level CM piece away from having something of the ilk of Wanyama/Dembele.

Bentancur and another Conte approved summer purchase

Skipp continuing to improve
Hoijberg and Winks great if we still need either and they continue to play well in the roles they end up in but a priority must be to continue to strengthen that spine. Dier had been great in that role next to Dembele but it didn’t stop us buying Wanyama and worrying about how they’d all fit. Circumstance, injury, form etc meant it was never much of a problem.

Looks very, very classy on the ball. Will doubtless give us a few heart in mouth moments, as he‘s clearly not been schooled to play safe and hoof it!

One key aspect here for me is that when he passes, he passes it exactly where the receiving player needs it to be in order to get out of the press or play the next pass. This is crucial in construction and transition as it sets every thing up.

How many times has one of our other CMs or AMs made a pass that doesn't help their teammate? Hojbjerg, Lucas, Alli, Winks and Sissoko before that have all done that leading to us struggling to get past the press.

That bit of intelligence of knowing the best space to play the pass is so critical.

A juve fan i know said he always liked bentancur, but this season he has suffered as allegri is too defensive. Hes crap but won serie a 3 times, and played all those games for juve, despite competing with the likes of ramsey, can, matuidi, pjanic, etc.......something def doesnt add up.
This is the thing what a lot of football fans don't take into consideration.

Bentancur in Allegri's system is different to Bentancur in Conte's system.

If Conte has identified him then thats cause he sees him play the Brozovic role, and Conte knows exactly what qualities you need for that. You need to play aggressively, cover ground and make simple constructive passes and Bentancur seems to have them.

Allegri needs that player to play differently and maybe he didn't suit that

Since we've only seen Bentancur in a double pivot, we're unsure at this point whether Conte sees him as primarily as a regista (Brozovic's role) or a mezzala in midfield 3.

Based on his profile and characteristics, I personally think this season Conte will view Bentancur as a mezzala playing on either side of Winks (regista). I don't think he has the passing range and vision to be an elite regista a la Brozovic, but instead has the intensity and composure to be a great mezzala. We'll see.

Yep, I worry he will get caught on the ball in the Prem.
We'll see how it goes, will he start v Saints, wouldn't like to predict. If he does, hope it goes great, but the pace of the Prem has been a problem for many a player from slower leagues

There is so much hyperbole. He had a good 30 mins but you know... Ndombele also scored a goal on his debut so shall we just wait... I mean I'm sure he is good and looks good but like the orgasms over his cameo
