As certain as Man U is going for Rice in the summer (and he will definitely strengthen man u’s yawning weakness), we should properly bid and challenge Man U for him.

Regardless of whether we get him, as a statement of intent and like what FP said post mortem - we have to be at the races for top talent.

Bentacur + one first xi Cm + the 3 we have of winks skipp and peh = a solid pack of cm (tho still far behind in comparison to say Chelsea’s Kante Jorginho Kovacic Mount Saul Barkley Loftus-Cheek and Connor Gallagher to return)
Zero chance he comes to us. West Ham would never accept our bid for their captain. He’s going to United or Chelsea. Bissouma is way more realistic although whoever out of the two don’t get rice, will be all in for him.

Loving the comments on him. He must have been impressive. Southampton will be a good test for him before wolves in a week’s time.

a statement if intent is signing the top level player you want in the face of stiff competition

Not trying to sign a player and fail - were good at that already

zero chance Rice ever comes to us so why bother

It's weird as he looked class in the brief cameo but I've seen Juventus fans say he's one of the worst midfielders they've had in years, even worse than Aquilani.

Something doesn't add up. Cautiously optimistic that he will be very good for us, but I wonder why so much negativity over him from some of their fans. Inclined to think they are just sour grapes or something.

Think it was more that Bentancur's price might have been kept down since there was a sell on percentage owed to Boca Juniors. Paratici greasing the wheels.

yeah so maybe we should look at the Kulu price as a bit inflated and we can take what we paid for the two combined as more instructive

Couldnt see us spending the money on Rice anyways, but it is irritating how petty the spammers are in selling to us yet willing to deal with another London rival in Chelsea.

Especially as we’ve actually sold them players in the past who have been of great help to them.

Interesting reading a few Juve forums and they are laughing at us for getting so excited over a 10min cameo and that his flaws will become more apparent over time

maybe best to see how this one pans out with an open mind

Fuck West Ham. I'd rather have Bissouma anyway (with the usual caveat).

A juve fan i know said he always liked bentancur, but this season he has suffered as allegri is too defensive. Hes crap but won serie a 3 times, and played all those games for juve, despite competing with the likes of ramsey, can, matuidi, pjanic, etc.......something def doesnt add up.

I read somewhere that he made an horrendous mistake in a big game and the fans turned on him unforgivingly. Bit like Ginola in France before going to Newcastle. He did ok.

I think the Kulu price tag was 'inflated' accordingly.

I am hopeful of course, and he looks a good player but will reserve judgment till he starts a Prem game, especially away from home. If he starts at Burnley that will be a perfect test.

I think the Juve fans see him as an incredibly limited player who wasn't good enough for the role they needed him to play. We on the other hand see him as a specialised player who is stronger in a role that we are lacking (a shielding DM), as neither Hojbjerg, Winks nor Skipp tbf have shown their game suits it.

I had that same thought…he sort of glides around the pitch and is so composed. I don’t know if he has the offensive instincts of Rice but he does have that look to him.

If the goal he scored for Uruguay is the sort of thing he does often, following up the attack, he could be quite near that.
