I like the look of him from the few bits I’ve seen. Adds a bit more strength into the centre of midfield which we really need.

On the fence with Kulu but this one looks good.

I'm sure it's already been covered in this thread but where does he fit in the team? What does he bring? I've watched a YT video but doesn't tell me enough
He’s a physically strong fairly defensive tidy ball player mate. If we play 3-4-3 he’d play in a 2 with any of Skipp, PEH or Winks, he could also play in a 3 if we played 3-5-2, he could play as a 6 or an 8.

He has assist potential with 18 assists in 181 games but he’s only scored 1 goal, he’s quite a combative player.

He’s like a better slightly more progressive more stylish version of PEH, a little bit like Locatelli.

They're good players, not deadwood. But yes, it is good for Juve, and good for us. Further, we're only actually giving Juve €19m for Bentacur and nothing for Kulu UNLESS we qualify for the CL in which case it will be worth the additional 40m.
Good is a bit of a stretch. I'd say they're decent players with a bit of potential due to their age. That said, €19m for Bentancur is a fair price, but €40m for Kulusevski is not. Out the 2, the latter is the one I'm most worried about considering the position he'll be playing in, which is a very important position in Contes teams. I don't think he's anywhere near worth that price nor does he appear to be good fit for the PL.

We'll have the remainder of the season to see for ourselves, so I hope I'm proven wrong.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated

46 Uruguay Caps
133 Juve Caps in Serie A - playing 30+ a season (>80% of games he has been started)
Important member of Serie A winning side under Sarri

Only 24 years....

And people here are doubting if he is worth 25m£ ? :banghead:

If this happens, this is the first deal we get from Juve. Way its being painted is as if we are becoming B team of Juve. So what ? So what if we get a regular starter of Juve to Tottenham. We currently have ex-Southampton and 2 academy players in CM. Why not regular Juventus CM ?

So so spot on! You just can’t win with some people mate.

Also I think the Kulu price is a bit too high and that’s influenced a better cheaper deal for Bentancur due to the sell-on fee situation, all in all very fair prices for both and both players who will improve us for sure.

People havent seen him play and are blinded by the fact that he plays for Juventus, like that is a measurement of his quality. People associate Juve with greatness but this hasnt been the case for a few years. Time will tell but the fact that so many people in here have so different takes on what type of player he is is quite telling.

He is not the problem though, the core problem is still our shit transfer strategy and scouting.

I've only seen bits a couple of years ago, same with the other guy but I'm hoping /presuming Conte has seen them and is happy.
If he is happy then I'm happy.

I mean, that's a great deal.

For us to sign him for <£20m (including add-ons that we may never pay) certainly doesn't seem like a bad deal. Transfermarkt had him valued at £45m less than 18 months ago, so he must have done something right after Juventus signed him for £14m in 2018. I can't help wondering whether the recent drop in his value (which is still higher than we're supposedly offering) has more to do with Juve's downturn in performances than his own.

He'd only need to be a useful rotation player to justify the fee we're reportedly offering, but there's potential for him to be a whole lot more than that. Some people are talking about him as a Juventus reject, yet he's started 2/3 of their league games this season and has featured in almost every game, so it's not like he's even out of favour. He was also a regular starter in Juve's last two Serie A title, despite being only 21-22 years old during that time.

As embarrassing as it may be (EDIT: in the context of our club's recent trophy haul), perhaps some people are being a bit quick to dismiss a 24 year old who has won 8 major trophies. In past windows people have been crying out for us to sign players with a winning mentality...

So which is it? Either they've seen him play or they haven't?

To me it's irrelevant what state Juve are in. They're still the biggest club in Italy. You've got to have something about you to be part of that club especially at his age.

Admittedly I've seen nothing other than a YT video or two of him but @fishhhandaricecake has provided a nice summary of what sort of player he is this evening already. I for one think he sounds like he'll fit in well considering the limitations of PEH and Winks at times

Couldn't agree more... maybe he is not world class... but he is certainly of a high international standard with plenty of experience and winning mentality for his age... and he would fit into Conte's style perfectly.

When you compare him to others in his position in the Premier League. Where would he be in the ranking... I can't think of many better players. Maybe a couple at City, Pool and Chelski... ?? ... (and compare this deal to N'Dombeles price as well )

No brainer if we can do it...

Strikes me as the opposite of Ndombele in that he isn't a highlight reel player but it's all the simple things he does that make him quality.. at least that's what I'm telling myself after watching his highlights
