I’m willing to allow rustiness as an excuse if a player like Skipp Or Japhet have a rough outing after not playing much. That’s because I have seen them also fully fit and have great games and put in big efforts. But I am done with the Sess excuses. I just don’t see it. He plays scared. He switches off. Has zero courage. And doesn’t believe in himself. I do think it was a mistake letting Reggie go instead of Sess. Felt so then, feel it even more now. He has no future at Spurs. Not after Udodgie arrives. And he looks like he could care less. I know that is harsh, but the kid has no guts. No gusto.

He seems to have a lack of belief in himself. Seems to hold back and never run at full pelt or attempt the cross early and takes another touch. I think there is a good player in there but every time he gets a run of games and improves his confidence he gets injured again. Then he reverts back to not believing in himself

Even when he had that incredible goalscoring season at Fulham, my mate who supports them never rated him that highly.

Seems to me that Levy got blinded by the numbers and decided "we NEED to get this guy" even though he had no obvious position in a Poch team and had a much less impressive season once he actually made it to the prem for Fulham. The signing actually reminds me a lot of Spence in that it was very clearly a club signing dictated by Levy based on perceived value rather than a player picked by the manager.

I've always held out hope that he would improve - and maybe he'll prove to be a bit of a late bloomer like Rose - but there's scant evidence so far.

Yesterday, the lad was a total disappointment. He looked like he had never kicked a ball before, I really dont think we could finish top four if he was a regular starter for us.

All opinions. I think he's dreadful personally. Nowhere near the standard required.

I've given Emerson pelters but Sess is just as bad IMO.

Unfortunately we've got so many players that if they left us would get nowhere near another 'top' club.

It’s quite funny as Emerson gets absolutely slated for his performances yet Sess kind of gets “will he fulfill his potential.”

Emerson is 6 months older, that’s it and has actually played less games in his career. Now I’m not defending Emerson but I think the same level of disappointment should be aimed at Sess. I’d personally say that I think Emerson is better than Sess at this point.

Said at the start of the season that this was his opportunity to prove himself and if he couldn't it should spell the end for him here. He's not kicked on at all and continues to disappoint. I think with udogie coming in sess will be surplus. Sad to see as he has everything you need to succeed, he just looks bereft of confidence.

I'd say that one of the reasons for that is that Perisic is number 1 and Sess number 2, while Emerson have been number 1 until very recently. On top of that we already have Udogie signed for next season so even if Sess is unconvincing we know that he is not first choice this season and will not even be second choice next season.

I think he'd be near the top of players I'd like to see us shift.

1 - Sanchez
2 - Sess
3 - Tanganga
4 - Royal
5 - Moura

Emerson gets slaughtered way too much. He’s not good enough or right for the wing back position but the criticism and abuse is disproportionate.

It’s amazing to me how often our attacking players run into pockets of space only for our midfielders and wide players to not pass to them. Emerson does pick out a pass when available.

Sessegnon is at least suited to the wing backs position but despite a few improvements here and there, his performances and consistency are still lacking.

He’s 22 so not ready to write him off but I’m no scout. If he is going to come good, I can’t really judge.

I do think half the abuse is because people want to see Djed. Swap him with Udogie and I think people would be hazing Sess for a similar reason.

I might be wrong but I think that's where a big part of the frustration comes from.

I think it’s the other way around.

I think people see Emerson isn’t good enough so have deemed Spence a great talent who must be better than Royal.

My guess is if we start playing Spence regularly we’d see he’s not at the level many have put him at.

I want to disagree but I can’t. Whether Emerson is better than Sess I’m not sure. But Sess for whatever reason has avoided the same level of criticism that Emerson and on performance alone - he shouldn’t. I personally preferred Regy to Sess also.

In yesterdays game just before he was subbed there was a cross field ball played in his direction.
It was the right ball and he was in acres of space.
he didn’t anticipate it and was on his heels so couldn’t reach it.
It was visible that conte was annoyed at this- he immediately sat down with stellini and with minutes sessegnon was subbed.
In contes setup, the wingbacks are vital to attacking play. It’s no wonder we are seeing such tepid stuff with players that arent doing as they’re coached.
For all we hear of players ‘not being ready’ - well sess has been training under conte for the whole time and still doesn’t get it. he plays with a permanent demeanour of someone thrown in at the last minute.
I think he will be moving on in the summer.

Agree. Reggie left everything out there even if his end product was inconsistent. The desire was there

Emerson is definitely better than Sessegnon without a shadow.

Plays like a car driving with the hand-brake on….which i assume is driven by fear of injury Which is sad, as he has ability but from what ive seen Udogie will render him surplus to requirements.
I keep wondering if Conte will be around to see his system in action with capable wing-backs on both flanks…..my head says he wont.
