I wonder if this is what Trix was alluding to.

Reject moves he doenst prefer so that he can leave with a pay out and then get a free transfer somewhere, to a club who are happy to bypass a transfer fee.

So how does this work??

Just say we have to pay his wages at 100 per month for the next 9 months.... = 900

We come to an agreement where he leaves immediately for a reduced fee so say 400. We save money, he leaves, is free to sign another contract with another club.

Can anybody argue otherwise that Aurier has been a complete an utter waste of money.

Albeit a snippet, but I think the AON Amazon doc probably reflected Aurier’s personality fairly well. He looked a lower level interference throughout. Almost immature. Well rid…
Typical 'under contract at PSG so can't be that bad' signing. He has done okay at times, but never been a fan.

I cannot believe no clubs haven't taken him. Utterly bonkers how he's apparently having to buy his contract out.

I'm hoping it's more like, we'll let you go now if you're happy to walk from what is remaining on your contract and then you're free to earn as much wages as you'd like elsewhere.

But we lose money on no transfer fee?

I think you might find his agents will have colluded with potential interested suitors. It's not so innocent on his part as it appears.

He and his agent already have a club lined up, they playing a stupid selfish childish game ..... he cancels his contract and he is free agent and you do the maths for the rest

And potential for a bigger market. Especially if spurs subsidise his wages for a year, thus making a 2 year deal look more attractive, particularly the first 12 months.

Yup, but with a year left on his contract that ship has now sailed and there's nothing we can do. At least this way maybe we can work out an arrangement where we don't have to pay 100% of his wages for 12 months, have him as a potentially disruptive influence, and then lose him on a free anyway.

Player power in full effect - little else we can do unfortunately.

Its not that no clubs have taken him. If we are to believe Ali Gold, Aurier and his agent have given the impression that a solution is in place, rehecting all advances from any interested club. He most likely has something lined up. He will now get Tottenham to pay x% of his salary for his last year of his contract, while negotiating a lucerative «bosman» type transfer to another club.

Love what he did when he played with everything that happened with his brother, but this exit leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Nah it will have to be a settlement, how much depends on the negotiations I guess. Aurier could otherwise threaten to sit out his contract and end up costing us say 100 grand a week for 9 months. It depends how honest and transparent Aurier is and whether he is open about having a new contract lined up with another club.

It could be that he offers to just walk out of the contract for nothing so he can join a new club but I find that really quite unlikely.

Smacks of a deliberate plan by Aurier. Is on £70k per week expiring 30/6/22 so £3m outstanding on it.
I wonder how much we will settle on it bearing in mind what kind of signing on fee he can command as a free agent.
Leaves a sour taste in the mouth but thats what modern players are about now days, Complete self interest and lack of integrity.
