If we are counting coins for the next year or two I am sorry but this signing does not make sense. There are other priorities. And with four left backs on the book I think this is difficult to justify.

If we are to field a full fit starting 11 it's arguably our weakest position. Upgrading to a young Spanish international with a ridiculously high ceiling makes perfect sense.

CB - if Dier doesn't cut it we have Foyth, Tanganga and Sanchez waiting in the wings. Plus once PEH is settled and we have a better LB our CBs will look a whole lot better

CM - we have Lo Celso and Ndombele who will hopefully make the difference

Does anyone know if a buyback generally involves a set fee (or at least some sort of indicator of future value)? If it does, then surely Levy could look at it as a type of "safe" investment - assuming the kid doesn't turn into complete trash on the field.

Fab Romano said there will be a buy back and a
Real Madrid's buy-back option for Sergio Reguilón will be active for the next two seasons and worth between €35M and €40M. #thfc will sign him for €30M. |

If those are the terms we have to take it.

Absolutely no reason not to.

That was all to do with image rights. It fell over because of that we were led to believe. Anyway, let’s see.

Fabrizio Romano, on the LWOS podcast, said nothing do to with image rights. We had a total agreement and he just simply said no.

I may be way wide of the mark here, but my understanding of a ‘buy-back-clause’ is that the selling club basically have first refusal if the buying club ever sell him. Definitely not that the selling club can click their fingers and buy him back when they want to - can’t see why anyone would agree to that, and it would essentially be the same as a loan, so what’s the point?
Point is that they make money now, we play him first team as we’re more invested in his success than with a loan, and we get to make a profit of a predetermined amount for our trouble if it transpires that they want him back on day.

Agreed. Basically paying us to loan him if he turns out to be great.

Or more likely, we become the best team in the world and he refuses to go back

This has been such an exciting day. A bit of hope after that performance on Sunday.

Maybe the point is to loan Bale and we have Gedson on loan already so can't loan Reguilon as we've hit our loan limit

Yep, still makes it feel weird (kinda like he’s on loan). But, it really should help us immediately.
We (well I already have) need to get our heads around not being a champions league club anymore.

Any buy back just means we get the player for free (including wages) for 1 or 2 years.

It's a no brainer.

If someone had told me that we were taking Reguilon on a 2 year loan and Madrid would pay us 10m for it I would have been happy with it, given the players long term ambitions that’s probably the way to look at it
