He didn't play as lone striker in any way.

My point was, we aren't as desperate for a striker as some like to make out. I'd rather make do with what we have and sign the right striker in the summer than get the wrong one in now.

I thought it was quite clear, as it has been every time he's played there, that Chadli cannot play up front. I know he scored a nice goal but his performance was poor, and his tendency to refuse to challenge for headers despite height advantage and not attack the ball in the box will cost us against a proper full strength team. To me all tonight did was reinforce the need for another striker who actually knows how to play the position.

It couldn't be more clear. We're 1-0 up at 60mins against a severely weakened Leicester team and we were forced to bring Kane on to alleviate the pressure. That says everything.

He played very well, but Chadli played more up top than he did. Son did most of his best work tonight in his best position as a WF or support striker.

The fact we had to bring Kane on after 60 mins to make things stick up front shows that nothing has changed in as far as our need for another CF goes.

I disagree (partially). The reason we brought kane was cos we needed someone to come on and hold the ball up as leicester had finally decided to leave their own 6 yard box. I actually think the attacking unit was working fairly well up until that point, but just needed changing up (which worked well). In my opinion this showed that we do have a viable alternative to starting kane, even in some league games.

We would still be buggered if he got injured though.

But the point is it proves that the manager doesn't think we have anyone other than Kane capable of holding the ball up. Ergo we have to sign another striker.

First time since he's come back from his injury that he's looked proper match fit and firing on all cylinders.

Good to have you back to 100% sonny boy.(y)

He looked so sad on the bench at the end there.

Hard to think he's not picked up another injury, hope not but...

I think there can be no doubt that he was a good buy, a great fit for next season especially. Son should get loads of game time over the next months ... After all, we are looking at 30 + matches to win FA cup, EL and secure top 4. :playful:

If we are going for top 3 or higher we really need a couple of attacking players to explode into form like Alli and Dembele did in the first half of the season.

If Son and Erksen bang in 10 goals plus between them from now to May we'll be cooking on gas.

If Son can play like that every week then he has to take Lamela's place imo. Alli has to start and if Eriksen can start playing with a bit of purpose again it's hard to leave him out.

Might seem harsh on Lamela as he works so hard off the ball, but he still flatters to deceive for me on the ball.

If anyone has a spare few minutes to watch this, you can see the Leicester goal was no fluke. Pavluychenko esque finishes.
The goal at 4.40 is rediculous

We still have Bentaleb in reserve too for cup games. Chadli, Bentaleb, Son/Lamela on rotation is not bad at all.

Eriksen looks bang up for it and harry seems to always show up for the big games. I'm keeping the faith, until we lose and I panic

I'd like to see him start on Saturday ahead of Alli.

I think with him playing just behind Kane offers us a bit more explosiveness and pace that we have been lacking in the final third.
