Anyone writing Son off is a wingnut.
Not every player becomes better with time and patience.
Townsend? What gained he form patience?
I actually got banned, from another forum, for suggesting that. I've been waiting here, patiently, for someone to use that terminology, to prove I'm at the right forum.
Thank you.
Onto Son. I really do think that we've seen virtually nothing yet of him, but it wasn't surprising considering the bedding in period for the EPL. I think he has a lot to offer this season. I'd love him to bag 20.
As you can see, I mean, if you ever learned to actually understand what you are reading, which is such a rare thing these days, I am right. I am not predicting nor guessing at all, it's incredible if that's what you take away. I'm merely saying that all the references to time and patience, and to individual players who benefitted from time in the past, as they keep popping up in relation to any single underwhelming player under the Tottenham sun, are redundant at best. We don't KNOW if a player will benefit in future from patience. It is impossible to know today. And we also know that some players have come good over time, some have really not at all changed for the better. Hence to constantly respond to any poster with various degree of just criticism of player B solely with "player A in the past did so and so, so you are fickle" is one of the most flawed, most stupid and most unintelligent responses I see on SC. It is so contentless, it would make more sense to say "we should definitely keep player B, the Spurs kit fit him so goddarn well". At least that would be presenting an actual opinion rather than moralising over other's opinions.Alright mystic meg, just give it a chance yeah, no point waving your Willy around claiming that you're right based purely on some silly prediction and guess work.

Townsend? What gained he form patience? A low key move to Newcastle?
Carroll? Early criticism of him was ridiculed, but is now widely accepted as mainstream view.
People who criticised Bentaleb was reminded about ManUtd and Paul Pogba ffs, and now
the club can't wait to get Benaleb out the door.
Nobody is putting their 5 pound bottle of wine from tesco in the cellar just because some wine matures well and develops with time.
It's the same with footballers. Not every player will be better next year or the year thereafter.

Funny how some see it. I see it as Lamela, Eriksen and Alli all being of a similar level in terms of contribution, whilst Son offers less and Chadli less again.
Yeah but thats football, all about different views. My view:
Eriksen: Most intelligent player; pivotal to moving the ball around in final 3rd. Proven deadball ability. Tracks back. Doesn't get into the box.
Lamela: Presses. Gets into the box. Can see a pass. Some involvement in build-up play. Prone to giving away fouls.
Ali: Gets into the box well, good finisher. Not involved in build up play. Doesn't track much either.
Chadli: Makes intelligent runs. Can finish. Hardly tracks back.
Son: Lamela/Chadli hybrid.
The 1 skill that none of these guys have is the ability to beat a man, which is probably why none of them's world class.
In terms of offence/defence balance Eriksen is most important IMO and Lamela complements him best so they start, then the other berth is just about where you want to attack.
This is the most astute comment yet on the subject.Anyone writing Son off is a wingnut.
And why it's essential we buy someone who can do exactly this.
Their first goal was a deflected own goal stemming from a Son free kick, and he got the assist for the third. This match report makes it sound like he was MOTM.
Players that tend to score goals, tend to score goals is a saying around these parts.
His performances were very up and down, but like Chadli, he'll consistently get you goals and assists if given playing time. Like Lamela did before him, he'll have to adjust to the league and reduce his sloppiness in possession.
