Son is not a complete footballer but really - is there a better finisher in world football than him?

Absolute world class. Love him.

He himself mentioned confidence the last couple of interviews, which I thought interesting.

He looked in a bit of pain when he came off. Made me wonder if he’s been struggling with a niggle all season. It wouldnt be the first time we’ve kept on playing a player who isn’t 90% let alone 100% fit.

Just having a look back through some posts in this thread as there some wild calls last season for him to be sold etc. and I noticed I posted this in January. Turned out he was playing with an injury impacting his form.....got something correct at last in this bloody game!

So glad he is back on form, playing well and most importantly being played properly and to his strengths.

No idea why I didn’t know this before but Sonny going away for the Asia cup Jan/Feb is not what I like to see, might need a ST early jan.

I'll hold my hands up here, I didn't think he was captain material, but fuck was I wrong.

He leads from the front, the change to playing through the middle has really suited him in this system, and he steps up and is accountable.

Love his reference to Harry in his interview, he's just such a great all round guy, his personality is infectious.

This guy has went up in my estimations if that was even possible. Leads from the front line. Watched him sprint at full speed to press the ball on the 70 min mark.

Another one to add to the tally - fair play my Son. Fair play.

What particularly stood out for me watching the replays is his celebration. He could have streamed over to the fans and basked in the glory of having put the ball in. Revel in being the hero.

But no. He paused, pointed to Johnson and pulled him alongside to share the glory. The kind of stuff that can motivate a young player and drive him on to better things.

Captain material through and through.

My favourite captain in all my years. Such a great figurehead for the best club in the world. Likeable isn’t the word I’m looking for.

Loved his interaction with Sarr. Showed a bit of a harder side and gave him a good telling off for not playing him in. Sarr looked like he had let his big brother who he admires down and hugged him a bit with an apology.

I think having Son and Ange will be a big draw for new players. Being likable is generally very underrated…especially when you are winning.

He even said that’s why Ange wants him at #9 (because of his pressing) AND said that he enjoys doing it!

Such an athlete!

It's not just about being likable; he has been vocal on the pitch, holding his teammates accountable for not making the right pass and for not pressing higher. As much as I like Lloris, we have been calling for such a captain for some time now. Sonny is more than just a likable guy, he's a good leader.

I thought he might be too nice but great to see him holding people accountable too as you say and then leading by example with the hard work pressing and quality finishing

Maybe, Also This seasons we are playing to his strengths as well. If he was playing wide I’m not sure we would have so many points and he would be playing anywhere near as well.

The system suits him
