This is the prevailing view generally . For me , if he'd shown a glimpse or two I'd be more enthusiastic , but so far its slim pickings for the Bergie showreel .Bergwijn for me is in the same boat as Gio. Way too soon to give up on either of them. Bergwijn seems to have had a real confidence issue after falling out of favour (has happened with Mourinho in the past) and simply needs to be built back up. For me he is definitely a talent worth sticking with. He plays with his head up more than any of our squad attackers like Lucas and Lamela, works hard and has good pace. He's only 23. Far too soon to give up with him. If the new coach gives him a chance I think he'd flourish.
I think he's the kind of player who needs to be told very clearly what his role is, and have a team around him that are all on that same wavelength. He's not a freestyler. So it depends whether Mason or the new guy will put real structure into our game or not. I reckon he'd be great for Leicester. Its so bizarre to go from his goals last year vs City & United to nothing for a whole season.. It has to be a confidence issue.
Agree he isn’t physically built like a winger.Watching the training video you can see how good he is technically. Confidence is an over used excuse for some but looking at him I think this is absolutely the case.
He does need to work on his mentality as you can see it in his face when he plays.
I still think his muscle mass is too high which has to affect his agility especially for a wing forward

Indeed.
Maybe a manager with a masters in leadership and emotional intelligence could help him out?
Anyone know if there's such a manager out there? Would be interested to hear about him.
There is one I'm pretty sure, but I'd want to know more about his xG.Indeed.

I've not been his biggest fan and I feel that even someone suffering from a lack of confidence should return at least 1 goal in 40 appearances but that training video looked seriously good.Watching the training video you can see how good he is technically. ...Same, much better player. Bergwijn has a lot more going for him and he’s young, just needs a goal for confidence, strikes me as a confidence player.
Another one ruined... No Euros for him either
If we get Ten Hag as manager, I think he would be a great fit for the Central AM role in his system.Watching the training video you can see how good he is technically. Confidence is an over used excuse for some but looking at him I think this is absolutely the case.
