Are people in here actually that stupid and want to sell Steven for 15M euros????? Are you crazy? He is a good player, need a bit of confidence. So many others on that list of outs before him.

He's still only 23 and obviously had some fitness issues in the past months. His numbers are not too bad - although we probably expected more from him when we signed him. This season he had more assists (7) than Lamela in his last two seasons combined (6). (I can't hide that I am not the biggest fan of Lamela as a footballer).

As others already said, selling him for a lot less than we paid for him would be crazy.

Clearly an unpopular opinion here but I think he’s painfully average, and if an ok bid comes in for him then we should ship him out along with the rest of the deadwood.

He’s the Dutch Andros Townsend

IMO he's not fast enough to excel as a wide forward/wing in the Premier League. He's quickish, but that's it, and he doesn't have the guile to achieve by trickery what he can't achieve by raw pace. I don't hate him, but I just don't see this great reservoir of untapped potential that some posters do.

Would be delighted to be proven wrong, of course.

Think we’d be silly to let him go, seems a really tidy footballer and in a pressing team could be really useful. He’s lacked in confidence this past season after starting really well in 2019/20, definitely deserves another season under a new manager to prove his worth before we even contemplate moving him on

For me he's in the exact same bracket as Lo Celso and Ndombele. Hasn't shown nearly as much in the 2 years (or 18 months in Stevie's case) as we'd have hoped.

I want all three to be given a fair crack in the first team under the new manager next season, but if any of the three are still not putting in the performances I'd sell them next summer whilst they still have at least 2 years left on their contracts.

He is not slow. Sure under Poch (?) fitness regime will get the best out of him #Hope

"There's such a wonderful player there that with time, coaching and belief can become a huge figure in a title winning side...if you give up on Bergwijn and sell him at a loss, you give up on coaching."

Was a major part of our pre Xmas rise to the summit with his industry out wide, but Jose chucked him under the bus after Anfileld and his confidence unwound- young player, new country, Covid

Agree he can be a big part of the squad next season if he gets off to a productive start
When did Jose chuck him under the bus?

Was this before or after Spurs fans abused him online forcing him to lock his social accounts?

Agree completely he’s distinctly average unless he becomes a Milner like work horse.

At 23 i'd be happy to see him get another year, i think we have more urgent priorities and i wouldn't be happy if he left a window before others, more deserving, get kicked.

I'm not sure what his ceiling is but i think he will naturally improve a bit more over the next 12months rather than stay static or drop off. Also he is young enough to handle some hard hard work in training and on the pitch.

We obviously need to ship out a whole bunch of players and get in upgrades but why anyone thinks Bergwijn is near the top of that list is beyond me. If we get down to him I'd expect to have seen a boatload of others already gone and I'm really excited to see his replacement who must be some player. I read that Ajax are interested in him but it's the ones nobody is interested in that we ought to be shifting.

He definitely lacks some pace, he got outpaced by Dinamo Zagreb's defenders and all of them are slow (except one). It could be lack of fitness but I think it's that ankle injury, Kane lost some speed because of it too and his work ethic is amazing. At least he has good work-rate, passing and technical ability.

Ajax can’t believe there’s actually a chance now of us binning SB, it’s so stupid if true. The only place he’s not appreciated and highly rated appears to be here at his own club. A very good player.

He'll come good. Look at him when he first joined, he's spent the entirety of his time here under a manager who can't actually coach players. The majority regressed during Mourinho's time, look at him and Reguilion to when they first joined vs now

Yeah I mean I said I'd be tempted if we got near what we paid for him but that's not because I don't think he could develop into a great player but more because I simply don't know the financial situation of the club and what offers we're getting elsewhere. I'd much rather see Lamela and Moura move on but that's dependant on offers coming in.

Aside from that the other reason I'd be tempted is because I do feel that Bergwijn is strongest on the left wing cutting inside and though I don't doubt he could do a reasonable job on the right, sometimes I feel like we sign players and then try and shoehorn them into roles which aren't necessarily the best fit. So if Son is staying and we need 30 million or so for somebody of a similar calibre to Bergwijn on the right side then as I say I'd be reasonably tempted to pursue that. If our new manager comes and decides that they think they can get the absolute most out of Bergwijn then I'd significantly prefer that however.

I think Stevie could be a really good player, but in our current situation I would be willing to let him leave for the right price.

If we were able to recoup the money we paid for him, then it would be a nice sum of money that could go towards our squad revamp this summer. We need to be ruthless in this window so we can get our squad to a decent position again.

But if its only a £15million fee then I'd much rather have him in the squad competeing for the RW role with Bale (if we bring him back). I think we need to be listening to offers for most of our squad to be honest.

He's a good player, just completely shot of confidence IMO.

Not sure the national team appreciate him, dropped for the Euros

That's tragic for the lad. I can only say you'd hope he'll come back refreshed and ready for next season under a manager that will appreciate his quality.

Keep. I could see him flourishing especially if Poch gets to work with him.

First class work rate and I would be looking to get shot of Lamela and Maura first.
