Love him, hate him or think he’s ok we certainly have a serious problem with our central midfields ability to screen the back four and stop numerous chances being created!!

To be fair have you seen the other team's most creative players? Sanchez, Tanganga and Reguilon created chance after chance against us.

Totally agree.
I would be tempted to play Hojbjerg and .... Dier :X3: at CM with Ndombele just Infront.

Hopefully that would help screen the back line, and give Ndombele a little less responsibility defensively.

I would like to see LoCelso beside Hojbjerg and Ndombele again just Infront. I'm just not sure that will work either.

I think the last suggestion is pretty much what we did yesterday, though more as a 3, which is how it would always look anyway with that combination due to the parts of the pitch they all gravitate too. If Lo Celso rediscovered some form it could really work too. I just don’t like the idea of putting Ndombele, who to my mind should see more of the ball than anyone else, in the final third where he’ll be fighting for knock downs from long balls because none of the deeper players can transition play.

Yesterday we had Ndombele and LoCelso playing forward and wide of Hojbjerg.
But looking at the average positions you would never know what formation we played.

Play 2 more dedicated CM's and give Ndombele more freedom to drop back and get the ball if needed, but to also let him get forward with the ball.

As I said earlier in the thread, we need to see him under a different manager. I don't care what anyone says, no way does Ndombele like Jose. He's getting on with it and being professional but you can't tell me he LOVES playing under Jose.

Let's see how he is under JN or another coach.

He definitely is still missing something but he's also young and doing well.

Most of our problems came down their right where Reggie is told to push on in Jose’s lop sided approach, the only visible attacking ploy.

Bruce did well to push Murphy on and encourage quick switches in behind him, assisted by cheap dangerous give aways by Sanchez in particular.

This muppetry and the failure of Tanganga and Sanchez to sort out back post marking was the reason for lost points.

Nothing to do with NDombele not screening the back four or not creating more chances.

If you’re suggesting otherwise you’re not being objective.

Would pay a monthly fee just to watch the training sessions at this point. We really need a manager who can get the best of Tanguy's skillset. He's so talented.

So disappointed with him again yesterday

Has the ability to help take this side to another level but unfortunately cannot step up to be counted when we really need him

It’s no coincidence that our record is much better in the first half compared to the 2nd. He runs out of gas far too often and when the heat is on and we need him he’s nowhere to be seen and more often than not has to be subbed off

Game after game in crucial moments when we need our best players to step up he steps off to sit on the bench!

World class ability with a huge responsibility in this team that he cannot live up to

Again, same thing for Lo Celso and Reguilon, we won't see a consistent Ndombele until we have a better coach and a better system in place.

Spot on, we are not playing in a way to maximise Ndombele and Lo Celso.

The one glimmer for me of the last 18 months is, we have seen the ability of TN, GLC, SR and with the right manager and system they will flourish IMO. Of course there is plenty of work to do, but I think certain players will go up a few levels when the shackles and pressure comes off.

I’d argue that we have seen a consistent Tanguy
Gio and Reggie for me are both recovering from injuries and are yet to show there best form again

yes because famously it's the players who decide when they get substituted?! He was crucial in our goal ffs. Whole team suffers when they're told to sit back and try and defend - no one had a good second half

They are not told to sit back and try and defend- Jose has said it time and time again and the captain has come out and said the manager has not told them to do this

Lol. He has been subbed off this season 20 times. From that 20 games, we didn't win 11 games. From that 11 games, we had better result in 5 matches when he was coming off. West Ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Arsenal, United...

We have conceded 15 goals between 60 and 90 minutes. 4 goals when he was playing (Liverpool H, Fulham H, 2x Newcastle) and 11 goals when he wasn't playing.

Virtually all if not all of those games were only heading one way and I’d argue that the manager was justified in taking Tanguy off
