Tanguy is either going to impress Ange (🙏) or he's not, which will likely mean the end of his Spurs story. I truly hope he buckles down and buys into Ange's training and philosophy because Ange likes risk takers and Ndombele has that mercurial ability to do some incredible things on the pitch - he just needs to improve his work rate and attitude and he could be an instrumental part of our season. All up to him.

Why didn’t they sign him up again then.
Does that make him the same as ndombele? If not im not sure what youre trying to prove.

Nobodys saying hes been a good signing, but in the context of the two teams and how things have gone since both signed, hes not as costly a mistake for them as ndombele has been to us.

It's not about simple work rate, it's that he's absolutely useless out of possession. There were plenty of occasions under Mourinho where he would press and follow simple instructions. Running stats were decent. But when it comes to doing that half of a midfielder's job, ie when your team doesn't have the ball, tracking runners, covering space, anticipating dangers, he is simply terrible at it. I don't think it's an effort thing, he's just completely incompetent. And I don't think he's suddenly going to develop that skill - and it is a skill - halfway through his career.

I'm going out on a limb and saying that there's almost zero chance Postecoglou is finally the manager to get Ndombele working hard in midfield defensively as well as offensively. It is what it is, he's not changing now.

Got a feeling a Saudi club will take him off our hands
I dunno, they seem to want names to bring a bit of glamour to the league - not sure Tanguy fits the bill.

I suspect we will find him a loan somewhere and subsidise his wages - unless we pay him off, but that seems unlikely.

Serie A winner costing 60m is fairly glamorous

I think his style of play is exactly what they want in their league. Showboating galore. And he’ll stand out as the intensity is low.

I think I recall he is Muslim too - which seems to have become more important in the Saudi recruitment - all three from Chelsea are Muslim I believe plus Benzema obviously.

Maybe reading into things too much, but find it interesting his name isn't listed among those we're trying to offload, from this Matt Law article: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...enham-stay-pierre-emile-hojbjerg-could-leave/

Other than potentially selling Hojbjerg, Spurs are looking to offload Davinson Sanchez, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon, while Harry Winks is poised to join Leicester City.

Yeah you'd think that someone like Lo Celso who has good technique and isn't afraid of getting stuck for the team would be a more natural fit for Ange than Ndombele.

He's all about "buy-in" and Ndombele is...not.

I understand why he'd want to at least give Ndombele a shot, though. If by some miracle he can unleash his talent he's got the potential to be one of the very best midfielders in Europe.

Haven’t we heard that the manager wants to take a look at him first? He’s out of chances for me and I know he won’t succeed with us but if Ange wants to take a look first then fair enough.

I thought I read on here that Lo Celso had been the exact opposite of being buy in?

I meant Ange was all about "buy-in", sorry.

Lo Celso was known for being a bit aloof and distant off the pitch so yeah, maybe that's a red flag for a manager like Ange. Generally felt like he always put in a shift when he played and wasn't afraid to get stuck in, though.

It’s a shame because both of them could be exceptional in Angs system

I have to say, and it’s only my perception of course, but neither Ndombele nor Lo Celso have ever struck me as doing anything that would illustrate them being truly bothered about being here.

I’m sure they both have talent, and in the most part that will be wasted, but for me, two of the first to be shown the door. We need players who actively want to be here.
