Loan with option is ok, but every time he was put through on goal for Chelsea you had confidence in him not scoring. I hope he finds some form, but having Werner and Richarlison in the same front line means we are going to have to create 10 or more chances per game just to see the net ripple once. Sorry, but the truth is neither are great finishers and I hope we see more quality moves in the summer.

My opinion but I think Werner is a better overall finisher than Richy.

I think in an ideal world, most of the goals scored in Anges system will be like Richys last few - one touch from a low cross.

Watching Werners goal comp it actually seems he's comparable to Richy here. I think a few of the chances Richy had last night Werner would do better with in terms of speed/movement - the golden question will be can he build his confidence to finish those off?

The issue with Werner at Chelsea was that he was a £60m signing expected to come in and be the main man in their attack. He's a perfectly good attacking option, clearly better than Solomon, Gil or Sessegnon.

People are acting like he's been a terrible player for years now but that's simply not the case. He had a goal contribution every other game for Chelsea, he scored 16 goals last year for Leipzig. He's a perfectly decent player, he's just not a £60m headline signing. Given the role we're signing him in, there's zero risk to this.

Maddison feeding Werner's runs is potentially deadly. Really hope he does well for us, he'll surely be hyped for the next Chelsea game.

I imagine Porro is going to have a field day playing those balls over the top for Werner to run onto.

Would I be looking at him based on what I've already seen of him? Absolutely not.

As I said a couple of weeks back though there is no point in looking at how players have played elsewhere as too much of an indicator as to how he will play under Ange. Nine times out of ten he is going to be asking them to play in a completely different way to how they've played before and he will be looking for players that have individual skill sets to mould into his philosophy. If we were looking at how they've played in different systems and under different managers Porro for example would have been on the first plane out of London the day Ange joined. He's now one of the best right backs in Europe(in Ange's system). I'm actually intrigued to see how he uses him tbh.

Agree, for example if we scouted Bissouma and Richarlison based on how they played under Conte we’d not go near either but look at them for their peak at Brighton,Everton & Brazil and now under Ange and we can see how good they are.

Lukaku wasn’t amazing and Chelsea but he banged goals in for fun for Everton and Inter and he’s doing alright for Roma.

Werner a few seasons back scored 34 goals, if Ange can unlock even half of that player then we are onto a winner and 6month loan is very low risk anyway.

So glad we are looking at adding another body to our attack as yesterdays game was clear evidence that without Sonny & Maddison we will struggle to score at times.
