Uninspiring. Even just as a loan there's an opportunity cost to it.

I absolutely love Ange but with this and BJ I'm mildly concerned by his taste in forwards

As uninspiring as the loans for Kulu, Bentancur and Porro i guess.

As we are the third top goalscorer's in the PL, I'm not too concerned about his taste in forwards.

RedCafe - after the rumours start surfacing about their interest in a loan. Safe to say they're not warming to the idea

  • We’re not signing Timo Werner
  • Probably because we already know what Werner is like, given that has already been tried and failed in the PL.
  • I'm not saying I want Werner, or that he would be a success at United, but that logic doesn't hold up to scrutiny. The same could have been, and was, said for Salah and De Bruyne. Systems and fit matter. Ironically both failed at Chelsea And people learn and grow from failure.
  • neither failed. they chose to leave instead of waiting or fighting for a spot for a littlr bit. it's not the same as flopping. chelsea's fault too for not fighting hard enough to keep them or give them opportunity. mourinho likes to play it safe fielding established players and getting instant results instead of developing raw talent.
  • They didn't fail. They weren't given the chance to fail, so they left and worked hard on getting better and came back and we all know how good they've been. Werner hasn't done that, he came in, failed and was sent packing, he's even worse now than he was when Chelsea signed him first time round.
  • Salad and KDB were killing it in their new clubs in the new league. Werner is currently relegated to the bench. Sound like damaged good. If it's just a loan to help easing up the burden on Hojlund, it maybe worth trying, since we know better not to rely on Martial staying fit for too long.
  • Martial is a much better player.
  • Would be a terrible deal for you (utd). He’s not even first choice for Leipzig. I don’t believe he has what it takes for a club of that magnitude. I believe clubs like Leipzig are basically his limit. (Bayern fan)
  • Yes he's exactly what we need, another attacking player that doesnt score many goals. Will fit right in.
  • With his off the ball movement, he'll create lots of chances. Bruno will be launching through balls every second. I'd take him on a loan with option to buy.
  • He's a pressing machine, his confidence and finishing totally went whilst with us. So many narrow offsides as well. Not sure of he's had other issues going on. Before we signed him his finishing was always pretty good. (Chelsea fan)
  • Who at the club saw him struggle at Chelsea and Leipzig this season and thought to themselves "ooohhh this guy is the answer!"? Honestly, this club will be the death of me. An absolute fecking shit show.
  • Managed right he can be a very good player.
  • We need game winners not people who have to be managed right and off form. We are a team that is struggling.
  • Awful player, one of the reasons he wanted to go back to Germany is because he found the PL too difficult. Complaining the PL defenders were all so strong and fast.
  • Apparently Bundesliga is too difficult as well for him, because he has been crap ever since he came back. (Leverkusen fan)
  • He was never good in the PL. Struggled to out pace 37 year old Ivanovic.
  • He was good for one single season in the BL. Outside of that he has always been mediocre at best and a complete one-trick pony. His pace has been his one and only calling card (and he is really fast, make no mistake). Those limitations are why he barely gets any minutes for Leipzig nowadays, why he isn't even called up to the national team anymore (despite their lack of strikers) and why everyone that followed the BL said that this was a terrible transfer for Chelsea when it happened.
  • I might be in a minority, but i wanted him when chelsea got him, and thought hed be very good for us when leipzig got him. Ive no real justification other than a gut feeling, I just think he'd do well at United.
  • Werner and Man Utd a match made in heaven.
  • I'm not really sure he'd be a revelation here, but I think his work rate and the style he is used to would work for us and he'd be a much better loan than Weghorst. Given we are scraping the barrel, I think it would be a good deal.
  • He’s a good pressing forward but can’t finish a senten….
  • Hell no, man's shit.
  • Signing him = we never learn. No God no.
  • Why isn’t he a starter anymore?
  • Bundesliga is too fast and physical for him.
  • Damn! Can’t even keep up with the pace of a farmers league anymore, should be resigned to the scrap heap!
  • Honestly man, him signing would such a typical signing from us. He’s not even good enough for Leipzig. We’re Manchester United for God’s sake, we need standards.
  • Think he could do a good job for us, especially on loan. As always though, will he get any service?
  • We gave him service at Chelsea and he missed them all thats why we had to go out and buy Lukaku.
  • I know we're desperate but please no!
  • With the mess we have created with player sales and purchases I guess we are restricted to the bargain bin in January. I don't mind it either. Werner, as mediocre as he is, is a versatile attacker and could be an option if we are able to move Martial on. So, why not.
  • Timo Werner isn’t good enough to come in and help us qualify for Europe, and he wouldn’t be here next year to play in it if by some miracle we even did qualify, so what is the point?
  • Leipzig cruised through their CL group and came second without any trouble after Man City. United crashed out of a similar group as dead last. It's possible that (currently!) not being good enough for Leipzig would still mean an improvement for United. Surely not to the level you want and need. But still an improvement. Werner running his ass off while finishing badly surely can't be worse than lazy Rashford not hitting anything as well
  • It would be typical of us to go around and bring in the softest German player around. He is pants and we should stay away.
  • Rather us signing Chris Wood. He could come cheap and he has his uses
  • As low as United are at the moment, we need better than Werner if we need a chance to get a top 4, if we want to stick to mid table or EL positions then Werner is fine. On the other hand, Werner has shown exceptional quality at times in his career and if he's able to replicate that form then he'd be a star and potentially help us to a top 4 spot.
  • So you’re telling me a guy who was shit in the EPL, went back to Germany to the club where he was most comfortable and was shit there too, but that hasn’t deterred United?
  • If he's the best loan we might as well just knock it on the head. Another Warthorse but very fast instead of very tall. Yawn.
  • Can't get a game for Leipzig. Scored two league goals all season (one of them being a penalty) Let's go!
  • Still more than any of our strikers who are actually playing
  • Contrary to popular belief I actually like him as a player. He's not clinical but he stretches play and is a good all round player, a bit like a better version of Welbeck or someone like Jesus. Since Hojlund is still pretty raw it's not a bad idea on loan. I think he was actually pretty important at Chelsea when he was there as he stretched play and worked well in that 5-2-3 formation.
  • Anyone who thinks this is even a remotely decent idea need their heads checked.
  • At least this one might be cheap and shit rather than expensive and shit. Progress!
  • Nobody informed us that this season we are trying to assemble a squad to avoid relegation. I thought we were battling for top 4.
  • Struggling for goals so look to bring in a forward that struggles to score goals? Yeah, that sounds like us
  • He worked hard and had good movement, but probably his best attribute was playing those perfectly weighted cross passes for someone to tap in when he ran in behind. Other than that, he wasn’t a very good player at all. Don’t listen to the Chelsea fans who would convince you that outside of goals he was great.
  • He got put through the Chelsea striker meat grinder and never been the same since. At least he got a CL medal I guess. Great work rate if not offside and end product... Rumours were Tuchel was banging his girlfriend but that's probably bs...
  • He wasn't even that bad, just had many high profile misses but ended at Chelsea on 19 goals and assists in 56 apps in the league so basically every 3 games. It's his profile which make him attractive though as you say and, actually, when you look at RBL and how they play, we seem to be on that road with the directness and high ball regains - Werner suits that system down to the ground, he played under Hasenhuttl, Ragnick and Nagelsmann and was top scorer for each of them. I reckon he could play nicely off Hojlund as well.
  • I can see this one happening. Not saying I want it to necessarily, but I can see it. It's looking like Werner or no one really.
  • Watched a few of his YouTube highlights to try to feel better about this potential signing, but I noticed that pretty much all of his goals come via a pass or cross from a teammate... Which he won't get here.
  • If we sign this guy it just shows how completely and utterly fecking incompetent the people who make decisions are at our club, and I include the board all the way down to the manager.
  • Linked to absolute slop on a daily basis, and window not even in high gear.
  • You know it’s bad when as a United fan you’re not put off by this transfer because he surely can’t be worse than what we’ve got

On the verge of signing for Spurs

  • He would've been the best loan striker option i think, therefor we are not getting him.
  • Oh thank you for saving us from him Spurs!
  • Athletic reporting Spurs move now too.
  • Makes much more sense for him. Playing in a much better side where he'll receive passes and be able to put himself in the shop window... If he's convinced he's not shit.
  • He's shite
  • I'm calling it now. Werner scored 6-10 goals before the season is out and the Red Cafe goes into an almighty meltdown! "We can't even get Timo Werner! Opportunity missed! He was right there for the taking! We're so fecking skint, and inept! Piece of crap club!"
  • Pretty much a certainty
  • He'll also bag against us next week too.
  • The Werner link never made any sense for us so I'm glad we won't be signing him. Apart from the fact he'd be another ineffectual player in an already dysfunctional attack, he isn't even a proper striker. Spurs makes for sense for him with Son off to the Asia Cup and Spurs playing better football than we do at the moment.
  • I actually thought he was going to become a monster of a player at Chelsea but that obviously never happened. I definitely would have rathered Werner than that Choupo-Moting gimp.
  • Yep 100 %, for all that Werner has proven to be pretty rubbish in the PL, there is something about him that would at least allow some people to convince themselves that he might do ok here (myself included), even though he probably wouldn't.
  • He’s a good player just not a good finisher. Would have been an horrendous fit for us, but will probably excel at Spurs given how well they move the ball around quickly.
Glad he’s not coming to us as we just don’t play well enough for his ability to shine. We need a new style of play for a player like this.
  • Think he’d be great for Spurs’ offensive style. Chelsea was a bad fit for him under Tuchel.
  • This. He isn't clinical enough for a top side, but he works hard and will definitely open up space for the likes of Son & Richarlison, will prolly nick a couple himself.
  • Werner would have done well for us.
  • Thank feck it’s Spurs taking the bait and not us.
  • Suddenly he is a great player. We have Martial anyway
  • Decent option for Spurs to add depth. Where's he playing? Son moved from the middle to left when Richarlison came back into the side and it's 4 goals in 5 appearances for Richarlison since then. Son away for a few weeks now, Richarlison and Werner can both operate on the left or centrally. When Son comes back all 3 can play left or centrally. Son will start somewhere obviously. If Richarlison stays in form then Werner on the bench? They just lost that young lad Veliz to injury who was getting minutes as a sub.
  • Werner can operate wide right too. Its when Maddison returns that things will get heated competion wise. Because Kulusevski would be first choice down the right. Whilst Johnson is there too. Whilst Manor Solomon will return to cover the left.
  • Debut goal incoming against us next week
  • It’s embarassing we have to opt in for these loan or free strikers every single season. They are trash players for the most part. (And even they are turning down the great Utd )
  • I really liked Werner. It would be so annoying to see him in a fecking ugly Tottenham shirt.

I want RedCafe's tears straight into my veins until it comes out of all my orifices in sheer and utter delight and ecstasy when he scores the winner at Old Trafford next weekend.

Agree, for example if we scouted Bissouma and Richarlison based on how they played under Conte we’d not go near either but look at them for their peak at Brighton,Everton & Brazil and now under Ange and we can see how good they are.

Lukaku wasn’t amazing and Chelsea but he banged goals in for fun for Everton and Inter and he’s doing alright for Roma.

Werner a few seasons back scored 34 goals, if Ange can unlock even half of that player then we are onto a winner and 6month loan is very low risk anyway.

So glad we are looking at adding another body to our attack as yesterdays game was clear evidence that without Sonny & Maddison we will struggle to score at times.
And his record for Germany is brilliant too

I don¨t hate it. Has plenty of attributes that suit the system, fills a hole in a squad, if it does not work just send him back and if he somehow gets into pre-chelsea form then great.

At United:

Timo Richarlison Johnson
Deki
Lo Celso Bentencur
Udogie VdV Dragonslayer Porro
Venom
A huge benefit of adding a forward player is that we can keep Kulu in the 10 position until Maddison comes back, thus allowing Skipp, Hojbjerg and Gil to remain bench options.
