8 appearances, 2 goals, 0 assists.

RB Leipzig played 16 games. He missed 4 due to abductor pain or back issue. On the bench for 4 other games. Played 8, started 2 and subbed in other 6.

I guess RB Leipzig has no use for him.
So two goals in two starts you say? Prolific!!!

If it was not for FM and YouTube clips, I would not be considered the preeminent football scout in my house.
I miss the days of CM when I totally believed I was the first person to ever scout Kerlon.
Top seal, shite footballer in the real world.

trying to understand what people are basing the optimism on Werner on?

has anyone watched him since he has gone back to Germany? From my understanding teams just don’t leave space to run in behind and he struggles
I guess the counterpoint would be that Ange’s system creates that space in behind. Our main offenseive strategy has been to suck teams out and then quickly play the ball through the middle into the space behind. Ange wants a striker that will: press hard, be a direct and pacy runner through the middle, and that has movement good enough to score the tap in goals johnson, porro, etc create with their crosses. That seems like the pre-Chelsea Werner to me. How many times have johnson or son gotten out into space and richy was two steps behind the play? Werner definitely missed some sitters at Chelsea, but his movement is good.

This seems like a clever move to me. He seems to fit the style and the financial risk if he is cooked is miniscule. He is clearly motivated to get into the team and make a difference to make the Euros. I think we should applaud the recruitment team for being decisive and clearly trying to improve the team for the short term.

Wherever he can play it's as the central striker that Postecoglu wants him, that's the hole that needs filling so it has to be his intention doesn't it?

A team of:

Vicario

Udogie
Van De Ven
Dragusin
Porro

Bentancur
Lo Celso
Kulusevski

Werner
Johnson
Richarlison

Has a fairly nice look to it. I think Werner could play out left in very much the same way as Sonny does for us.

I think if we could all just approach this signing with zero expectations, that’d be best. Don’t rule out any success before he kicks a ball for us or think he’s going to magically recover form from 4ish years ago. Pie in the sky stuff, right?

I think the ITK we got a few weeks ago was that we were looking for an attacking player who could play across the front line.

I don't think striker specific was the target - because Sonny can play that position also.

You do know Werner can also play on the left and right? Exactly what we need.
I know that. Haven’t public when he left chavs, who mainly played him off the left. He said he sees himself as a striker and not a wide player, and that is where he wants to play, and i agree. Play him to his strengths. We already have Kulu playing out of position. Why don’t we just add to the confusion.

So expecting a hat trick on his debut at Old Trafford is a no-go?

Just in the premiership era, gallas was good, cudicini was solid. Even gudjohnsen wasn't a total flop. There's probably more I'm missing but just off the top of my head

Don't mind this at all, just like I wouldn't have minded Jota.
It's a risk free, try before you buy deal that gives us another option.
At best, we get a bloody good player and at worst, we give him back.

Yes but at the moment that's the hole we need to fill and if it works out then Sonny can be that player on the left.

As I said before, improving attack is as important as improving defence for me in this window. We need more quality in forward positions to finish season strongly. Werner seems like short term option but I guess it is difficult to get long term ones in January, fair enough. Glad we acted quicky. Lets see how he works out. Will not be worse than any other of our bench options.
