We'll see in future matches, maybe it's a lack of time together or knowing Walker's there but some look an awful lot like players don't rate him so won't put him through

He is just a very tidy footballer. Rarely makes a wrong decision and doesn’t give the ball up, where yesterday Kulu and Johnson kept giving the ball back. Really nice weight on his passes. Obviously his movement is top class. Not going to blow you away with his 1 v 1 ability or tricks. He is just solid.

I do get they need to get used to his pace but it's not like Son isn't making these runs on the same side. I think the pace and the City pressing was a key factor in players not being sharp with the first time ball for him. The game was at such a high tempo, I already can't wait for Wednesday where I think we can play under a bit less pressure and pick the right balls. Plus hopefully Maddison will start.

I think hes another one that's not at the level needed.
Lets see. A debut away to Man Utd after two days training and a match against a very on it Man City in the cup is quite a tough couple of matches to judge him by. And if he isn't at the level we need then it's going to have cost us very little in the short term, and nothing at all in the long term. We simply say 'Thanks for your efforts Tim' and send him back to Leipzig with all best wishes.

Another one along with players such as Vicaro, Porro, Udogie, Maddison, Sarr, Van de Ven that we have signed lately?

He'll have the rest of the season to prove he is worth *checks notes* £15,5m come the summer.

Our overall transfer business lately has been brilliant.

I was referring to players in the front 3.

I can see the logic of bringing him in on loan because we lacked depth whilst Sonny is gone.

What I dont get is this optimism that hes going to turn into a player that's good enough for what we need long term.

Put in good performances in both games he has started, 1 tidy assist and set up our only chance (Johnson) last night. Really not sure how you have come this this conclusion.
I think he was largely missing last night.

I suppose I use playing teams like City and Liverpool as a bench mark to see what certain players offer.

Plus we already have his 3 years at Chelsea as reference.

You'll be often disappointed then. City and Liverpool are two of the best teams in the world, perhaps even the best two.

Chelsea played a totally different system to Postecoglou.

He was making some really good runs and keeping the width down the left. Hardly his fault that others weren't picking him out.

I think time will tell. But, my impression of Werner, and of how Ange likes to play, is that Werner has the skill set to be very successful in these tactics - which is very different than how Chelsea set up.

I think it was more of a case of players in our team not even trying to pick him out with a through ball, only once did they try it and Walker only just a out made a vital interception in the penalty area, there were at least 3-4 other opportunities we had to try it and we didn't try it either through players being too slow of of thought or too cautious and holding on to the ball for too long or not being bold enough to give it a go. Either that or they're not confident in they think he might be able to do much and thinking he's not Son so don't bother trying. It proved to be our undoing and now we'll never know whether one or two of them might have paid off. Gotta give it a go in the Brentford game if we get similar opportunities as if we don't then it begs the question what's the point in having him here if we're not going to utilise and try this option.

I think that was what frustrated Ange both from the tone of his post match interview, we just tried to hang in there all game rather than being a bit bolder with attempting some of those through balls.

Obviously, but this is the level we want to get to.

I really think Maddison returning and making the right passes at the right times will massively help Werner and Johnson.
I wholeheartedly agree with this but I don't want the rest of our team relying solely on Maddison doing it, others should be stepping up and giving it a go too.
