Where have you seen this quote because I can't find it anywhere.

Edit - Actually, I've just found it - and you've misquoted him lol - he said 'He played like different players against Newport, and the decision was be out of the squad.'. He was just giving a basic answer to the question because he was annoyed they kept on asking about Toby. He's doing the same thing that he did when Rose came back from injury earlier in the season.

Fair enough, I got the quote from an ESPN article who must have misquoted him

Toby played against League 2 Newport in the FA Cup but refused to travel to play Arsenal in the league

Doesn't make sense

Until there's further evidence I'm going to assume they feel it's better if he works on fitness levels rather than sitting on benches ala Rose previously. If they don't feel he's fit enough to start these games then it's pointless him travelling. We've just got through the tough League games with Sanchez & Vertonghen playing well as a pair so maybe they don't feel need to rush.
If he doesn't start against Rochdale though then I'd worry a bit unless he's picked up an injury.

Putting my Poch hat on I'm guessing he thinks with Sanchez and Dier he has ample cover, especially with Demebele and Wanyama back and improving competition in midfield.

I'd rather Toby back personally and I'm sure the player himself is very keen on getting back so maybe some friction there causing Poch to get narky in the presser.

Really not hopeful on this one. Would be a massive shame to lose such a quality defender but have a feeling he has a move lined up this summer.

We didn’t.

There was definitely something. Don't know if it was JJ or one of the other ITK's, posted on twitter a few contract emojis with a smiley face or a thumbs up. Something like that anyway. Followed by a wink when someone mentioned Toby's contract.

I even vaguely remember someone actually saying there had been a breakthrough in talks and it was nearly done,

Unless I've made all that up and I need to speak to my dealer about this MDMA...

Poch got annoyed in the press conference because we'd just beaten our biggest rivals and played them off the park, only for him to be asked a question about why a certain player who has just returned from injury wasn't included. I'd be very surprised if there's anything more to it than that

Much more likely that he had a slight injury setback or just poch didn't want him to have to play three times in a week then in between Wednesday and Saturday, just before a NLD, he's told poch he's not gonna sign

And if he has done that then I'd want him out anyway because he obviously wouldn't give a fuck about the club considering that timing

Would be a very weird time for him to throw his toys out the pram. We have a realistic chance of doing very well in CL still in FA cup and World cup coming up. Plus he tweeted well done lads yesterday, doesn’t seem like someone in a hump. But worst case scenario we get £70m to add to the 3 very competent CB we have in vertonghen Sanchez Dier with foyth on way. I’d be much much more worried if this was kane or Eriksen. We’ve coped for 3 months and if anything actually improved.

They’ve read Gards tweet then tried to get the agent to confirm :ROFLMAO:

This is the problem with putting that sort of stuff on twitter. Gards said "I believe" so its his opinion which will get twisted and then regurgitated through the media and presented in front of Poch at the next press conference as fact.

A tad irresponsible from gards I believe (pun intended).

if you check Gards tweet and go down a few, some one says he is not fit yet and staying home to work on his fitness which makes more sense than jumping the gun and thinking the worse

Who actually is gards ? As far as I remember he isn’t confirmed ITK. Anyways I Honestly think at 29 there would already be plans in place for Toby replacement. If that has to come a couple of years early so be it. As said £70m for a 29 yr old CB maybe be looked upon as very decent business if we replace him with a top quality 23 yr old. Also just to add when it comes to buying CB I’m sure Poch knows exactly what he is looking for and has a big involvement. It’s no coincidence imo the striker signings have all been flops but the CB all great so far.
