Because anyone with an IQ over 50 can see that there might not be much he can do, if Toby wants out or is demanding ridiculous figures to sign.
Maybe thats why.

Maybe we should go back to the time before Levy. Buy a bunch of shit players in their 30s. Top clubs will never want our players then.

Those were the days!
I just find it really odd that with such a limited amount of information available, that for some the default position to take is 'blame Levy'.
And then to question why others aren't doing the same?...baffling really.

I think the clubs management is being pretty dignified. As much as I like a good bit of juicy ITK, that all the real work is going on behind closed doors is a good thing.

We have come a heck of a long way in the last few years, even losing awesome talent like Bale and Modric. We seem to be about to lose a good CB, who ultimately is just 1/11th of a match day squad, a cog in the wheel and who can be replaced!

In reality people often prefer to blame one thing or someone rather than look at the actual issue.

The TA situation is a difficult one.

It seems his agent’s demands are to make him extremely highly paid.

He has been promoted as the best centre back in the league the last two seasons.

With mega rich clubs around he can likely get those wages.

Poch wants a certain mentality in the squad. He wants desire and for the players to want to be there.

It is of no benefit to the club to keep him an extra season if he wants out.

We don’t want to sell to a domestic rival.

But if City offer a much higher transfer fee than the foreign interest or TA’s determined to stay in the prem then the club have an even more difficult situation to deal with.

Much easier to just blame someone.

Best thing is I think in Sanchez we have already replaced him.

Jan Vertonghen has insisted he is not worried about the future of his central defensive partner Toby Alderweireld despite talk of a transfer away from the club

Pardon the stupid question, but is Toby still injured or being kept out of the side because of the contract situation?
Roberto Martinez and Belgian staff seem to think Toby is fit. Draw your own conclusions.

My guess is it's a little bit of both. Not being fully match fit, and Poch needing to move on if Toby has decided to move on.

I have no doubt that he is fit, fit for Belgiums style of play and training, but fit for Pochs style? There is a big difference.

Not necessarily, CB is the least demanding position physically. If he's fit for Belgium he's fit for Poch imo. However, we've had a settled team recently and there has been no need to rush him back, - prob wasnt ready for Juve which was a few weeks ago now and the only game in the recent few he'd have been 'needed'. Maybe in that time he has improved his condition.

I'd much rather go with Sanchez in games vs Bournemouth and Swansea if Toby's future is uncertain. The more he plays the better. I reckon Toby was fine for Swansea, but it's just that.

If Toby wants to go, then he should go. Given the way he's started to pick up injuries, we may already have seen and had his best years. No guarantee he'll get much game time at either City or United, so he could be a highly paid benchwarmer or at worst a highly paid fixture in the treatment room. Sanchez is doing fine, Foyth will be good in the future; so we pick up Lascelles or De Ligt and imho we've done good business.

Not sure I agree with the Toby is a crock narrative. Last season he got a freak injury because of a heavy knock and missed quite a few games as a result. This year he got by all accounts a nasty hamstring tear which could have happened to anyone and my guess is that he’s actually been ready and available since January but Poch has refused to play him meaning that injury was only a 6-8 week lay off. Kane has missed more games through injury in the last 2 years so should be flog him too just to be on the safe side, especially as it’s been the same reoccurring injury??

So Toby is fit.
Will be interesting to see if hes in the mix for the chelsea game.

I dont know what kinda wages toby is on today, but he "deserves" to be one of top earners.
Just hope its not his agent trying to demand stupid wages.
If he forces an exit we should not sell to any PL teams. Ill let him rot on the bench another year before that. If he doesnt want to be here then we should be thinking of ourself and not meet any demands of being sold to city, man u, chelsea or liverpool.

If he wants to leave, let him go. If his heart isn’t in the game he won’t be the same player he was anyway.

Perhaps the best thing for the club would be to arrange a bumper transfer to a club we won’t play more than a few times in a season, like PSG, Madrid, Juve or Bayern. Worst case we get them and him in the group stage of the champions league and then in the knockout stages.

I didn’t agree with Walker going to a domestic rival but from what Hercules has said the interest is abroad anyway. Spend the cash to bring in young guys to improve the team. Team spirit should be priority above everything else.

That literally covers every team in the PL :D

Toby is obviously fit we wouldnt let him go on international duty if he wasn't, especially as they are only friendlies.
