I'm not convinced by Foyth, but there's no point buying another CB until he's been given the chance, otherwise there was no point buying him.

We have Sanchez , who's different, but already ahead of Alderweireld on merit, as well as Dier, an almost identical player to TA and Foyth. Why an earth do we need to buy another CB when we, hopefully, cash in on TA.

Sanchez now has the right centre spot on merit. Foyth or Dier can replace him if he is injured and Alderweireld leaves. The 'problem' position at the back, in my opinion, is the left centre spot. Who can effectively replace Vertonghen if he is injured or needs a rest?

I think it's a given that we'll go back into the market. Ideally we need someone with decent experience to cover Verts.

There has been suggestions we are in for CBs from ITKs, Jonathan Tah being one. I'd personally like an older head that's ok to be back up but can step in if Verts is out, but then I liked Llorente for that reason and it didn't work out!
Lenglet from Sevilla would be a very interesting option as well, left footed and has had a very good season for them from all reports. He was very good against United in their Champions League tie. Also doesn't seem like Sevilla ask for insane fees for their players so may be able to find common ground there on valuation.

Given how good Sanchez has been, I'm starting to feel that the Toby situation isn't just a contract dispute. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out this summer that he's had a bit of a falling out over expectations that he should be the starter. He's had a lot of trouble returning to form, and he's shown his rust against Rochdale and for Belgium.

Him leaving this summer is probably going to be about money AND playing time. Walker 2.0.

Can't be about playing time when he's been injured for 4 months though.

He's clearly fit, and I think he has been since Rochdale. But I meant that in discussions with the club, he's been given the indication that Sanchez is first choice.

Yeah but he's not match fit hence why he's been shaky when he's played for Spurs and Belgium, he's not 100% so regardless of contract situation or not there's no justification to start him especially when you're changing a settled side on form.

Honestly believe if Dier played CB week in week out he would be England’s No 1 option. Will have to spend serious money for a CB better than Dier.

Alasdair gold saying he wants 180k. Ridiculous if true. 130k is perfectly fair imo considering injury record.

I don't believe this isor ever has been a money issue. I think he just wants to go. Big clubs are interested and this is his last chance to play for a real elite European club.

@Hercules had previously reported the opposite, that Toby was happy to stay but wanted to be more "fairly" compensated. I wonder if something has changed behind the scenes if that is now the case.

I am on record as among things I have said actually in alignment with Trix. It is not everything you can put in black & white.

Perhaps nothing has changed. We hear things from different people, and that sometimes comes from different peoples perspectives. It is my opinion(educated by bit's I have heard) that if he is demanding £180k per week, it's because it's an easier get out. He knows full well he isn't going to get it, with us, but will somewhere else.

Understood, I wonder how many players in his position make those types of wages? Seems like Hummels is in that £130k per week range from a quick google so that seems more than a fair offer.

Don't always believe the figures banded about on the net, the source is usually only Journalists guessing.

Didnt he try that once? The bench at A. Madrid?

Anyhow. I put my trust in Levy in not selling to either City, Man U, chelsea or Liverpool. We just cant sell our best players to our rivals. Those times are over.
How much will we get for him anyway? 29 years old, 1 year left....id say 40-50 mill.

Who does he think is going to pay him £180k a week? He's mental. Or if they'll actually pay it, they are.

An Arsenal fan at work believes he's joining them. Reckons they'll pay the wages and that he wants to stay in London. His "source" is some bloke on twitter, who was apprently correct with a couple of there other transfers but i don't believe it myself.

All I've seen from the boy is pure promise.

What aspects you concerned about?
