If martial isn’t in the deal then Levy is a giant helmet. It would be better to keep him. Who knows what might happen. Verts could break a leg first game. So Toby might play the whole season. Things might iron out and he might sign a new contract. Fuck Toby, if martial isn’t coming then pull the plug. No more bending over to the so called bigger clubs. Mourinho is a massive cock also, he would literally take the piss out of our club if this happens without martial. Prick.

Its not a matter of MUST that we sell Toby in this TW. Theres still the January window.

In January there will be clubs willing to deal on Toby. Clubs fighting at the top of their respective leagues or in need of reinforcement at CB (see bindippers in January with VVD as an example).

Its not all doom and gloom and a matter of must wrt Toby being sold this window.

This is something I've been considering. If there are still interested parties we still might get offers in excess of the clause in Jan to give someone a clear shot of negotiating, or simply because they are desperate for Jan recruits. It could even come from abroad. There could be a bidding war on Toby's wages when the clause activates which even the club who thinks they'll win won't want.

Also isn't the clause active at the very end of the next summer window? Might even get someone give us a bit more to seal an early deal and beat the competition!

I think Levy is keeping this in his mind when sticking to his guns on Martial.

Or we keep hold of him and then sell him to one of the clubs in Europe for say 35/40m...... if there is no martial but still no guarantee that they will come in for him.... do we want an unhappy character around the team ? Poch won’t that’s for sure

We wouldn't lose anything but we'd miss out on a higher fee. It's a tough one but I really feel we need to sell Toby this summer. If it wasn't for that clause I'd be saying otherwise

The club created the mess with haggling for 3 yrs on a new deal. Im not concerned about the lost opportunity of the higher fee.... Its strengthening a rival now. I would keep him to aid our CL cause this season and put us in the best possible opportunity to re-qualify next season. The riches there would make up for the fee differential i believe.

I dont buy PR on he's burnt his bridges.. And do we want an unhappy player in the team. Why did he play a game or two at the end of our season.

Yeah that's exactly what I would do, I've made my feelings very well known. I work for a retail development company here in Texas. We're developing this 25 acre site another developer asked to buy some land (which we would have taken a short term profit on) and we said fuck no cause we aren't selling to our competition. We shouldn't sell to our competition.

Even though our hands are tied in 12 months time for substantially less? I'd usually be with you but if we are getting a far higher figure now I think it tips the scales towards us having to, especially if the whole having to sell in order to buy situation exists as has been said numerous times through the ones with the info.

If we sell and we don't bring in I'll be really unhappy, it'll depend what the club can do after shifting a nonHG player should we move forward with the sale -a Martial swap

this might not be the right thread but ive seen it so many times, i feel it is. What does 'suck' actually mean in the bad use of the word? Suck Dick? I mean surely that depends? or is it that 'ive been forced to suck dick'? which if so, says alot about the American mind, if thats a constant threat in the back of your mind. Can someone clear up the etymology of this as its creeping into English

I think Toby has been professional through out. We havent heard his end of the story. We not squeezed into such a corner as some would make it sound. There's a player here who is ours. Keep him till the next window and re-evaluate in the next window.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of the consequences. I want the best squad. I don't want the best transfer fees. What on earth fills you with confidence that this money will be reinvested properly?

Kristof Terreur (Belgian journo close to the PL based Belgian players) is being spiky on twitter tonight. He certainly hasn't been given the nod that a deal for toby is close.

It definitely doesn't fill me with confidence that this money will be reinvested but if it's an extra £25m+ to the club it'll only be better for the club. As I said it's a really tough call for me and I sway between having Toby for an extra season but if him leaving allows us to bring in this summer I think we need to go for it regardless of how it is bitter selling to a top 4 rival. He don't want to be here, Pochettino doesn't want him, I say use the money to get someone in and promote Foyth to backup centreback. Just my opinion though

Tweet he refers to has been deleted, but google cache has it as

"BREAKING: Toby Alderweireld given permission to discuss personal terms with Manchester United after Spurs agree £55m fee for the defender. His agent is asking for £200,000 per week and a 5 year deal. {London Press} "

Rightfully sounds like nonsense

He'll be one of the first to break any developments regarding Toby - always has his finger on the pulse with Belgium players

I'd take £55m for Toby but would prefer us dangle £25m + Alderweireld for Martial under their noses

No way he gets that wages amount and contract length with such a large fee at his age. Easy one for KT to slap down.

Also took down a fake spanish journo.

Well, as much as it'd grate on me that Utd refuse to sell us Martial, but it appears we may have agreed to sell them Toby, at least if it is happening imminently and for £55m, we can hopefully pull the trigger on Zaha with that cash (or maybe JJ's mystery player so long as it's a Zaha/Martial type forward), that would make it partially more bearable. Real kick in the guts would be, if we did spend that cash on Zaha, Utd would get some back. Maybe something in that....

According to reports Man U have a 25% sell on clause for Zaha. Give us £55m for Alderweireld, we get Zaha for £60m, Man U would get a further £15m back ultimately leading to only £40m spent on Toby.

You could have a really good point with this one, it'll be interesting to see if something like this happens if Palace potentially continue their spree

There's no way United sell Marital to us.

Pretty sure I said the same last year.

He's really popular with their fans, if clearly not with Jose, and it'd shit on their Biggest Club in the World marketing.

I'd love it to be different, but they're rich enough to let him rot in the reserves if that's what Jose wants.
