There does seem to be growing noise that a deal is close. Nothing substantial but understandable with time running out and him due back from holiday.

Utd fans getting excited. Would be sweet to see the reaction if the Martial swap happened when they thought they were simply buying toby for straight cash! Unlikely I know but would be fun (plus us signing a very exciting player of course).

Anyone who knows football will know that getting Martial as a direct swap for Toby would be a massive coup for Spurs for many reasons. That includes all at Manchester United. If that deal actually happens I will be extremely surprised but extremely happy.

This isn't right. Early on in the window there was ITK saying Toby would be replaced.

I meant the more recent information, see here.

Gards on twitter: So a snippet about Toby, United desperately want him &he is there first choice, Mina is a myth & a smokescreen which levy has called there bluff by making him available for transfer. Now, I would be stunned if he doesn’t go but levy has a huge decision as martial has 2 b included

He goes on to say we won't bring in a replacement.

The reason noises are getting louder is quite simple. The window closes in 4 days and a deal is inevitable. Every Tom, Dick and Harry who claims to be ITK on the internet will be saying this one is 'close' - easy credit win.

Its how they stay relevant for so long - educated guesses.

Interesting you say that as the summer he was being linked around at £45m. You have to remember as highly rated he is he hasn't been able to make himself a key player at Man Utd in 3 years. He fell out of the French squad.

Toby on the other hand is a world class CB who was an ever present in Belgium's 3rd place at the WC. Being one of the best available adds a premium too.

This Martial being worth much more than Toby stuff only came around in the last couple of weeks.

Martial is a massive potential talent and the way the market has gone is worth more than Toby, but IMHO not as much as some make out. Utd's high price is purely the reluctance to sell. I'd still be happy for us to chuck Toby and £20m to seal it though!

United close to agreeing a deal for Mina [according to The Mirror]

Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal to sign Yerry Mina from Barcelona, it’s claimed.

The giant 6ft 5ins centre-back, 23, is said to have already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

And now, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo are reporting that the two clubs are close to agreeing a transfer fee.

The publication claims United have seen an offer of £30million rejected by the Catalans, who want £35million.

However, they add that they expect a deal to be agreed before Thursday’s deadline.

Genuinely feel like united would have had a worse window than us if they go this route.
