And to be fair, paying 60-70 mill for a soon to be 30 year old defender is utter madness.

Difference is, when Bale left and was the poster boy of spurs adverts globally - he was arguably our only ‘star player’ carrying the team, we had some decent players but none were valued as highly as he was as an asset. Now our team is full of stars, Kane, Alli, Eriksen etc... Leaving Toby out of these kind of videos is easily done as it wouldn’t kick up to much of a storm. Especially when we have included the likes of GKN and Onomah. We could have easily left him out of the video like the Moussa’s and Wanyama... the only one who was not around at all was Janssen.

Although this hasn’t been confirmed yet, I don’t understand how anyone thought it would be any different? Where did the faith come from that we were in control of this situation?

Seems people focused on us wanting Martial, but forgetting that everyone knows Toby wants out and has been effectively sidelined by Poch, he won’t sign a contract and has a clause that has us by the balls. Plus we have a history of selling if the price is right.

I’ve thought we had a shit negotiating position from the very start.
