40 million won't be enough. They messed us about early in the window saying they won't sell Martial to a premium league club yet wanted to buy Toby from us for cheap.

Now they are desperate to sign him, and depending on Toby's attitude and if he will play/sign a new contract we should expect to get more for him, or keep him if he does sign (don't think he will). I would only sell for 40 million in the January window if we did have to keep him this window and didn't sign.

Man Utd seem to 'believe' a lot and so far their belief has been massively misguided.

A report in the Mirror suggests that United think that £40 million will do it for Toby.

Personally I find it hard to believe. This possible transfer could well roll into the final day of the window by the looks of things.

Weren't they saying United rated him £50m but we wanted £75m at the start of the window? £40m, in any context, seems low unless it's cash up front with clauses to take it higher...

Selling Toby for 40m Levy should be sacked. We cannot replace him for that. We spent that kind of money on Sanchez and the guy cannot read the game he just has pace. Anyone who thinks this is a good deal strengthening United is an idiot. We are a joke who I will be amazed if we get top 4 next season.

United are a CB or two away from having a great team. Last season they were lucky to keep as many clean sheets as they did, and Jose and their fans know this.

We really should string them along sabotaging their season at the last minute instead of "completing" their team UNLESS we get Martial (and I'd even argue Toby is more inportant to United than Martial is for us from a pure football perspective atm).

Anything other than Martial screams that we're content battling for 4th at best.

I fully expect us to either get Martial and sell Toby or we keep him.

How did you manage, in the space of 2.5 short sentences, to completely contradict yourself? Top work!

I think Mourinho is the key to this.

Our strategy appears to be to wait and hope that he throws a massive wobbler and demands Toby whatever the cost.

In that scenario the Utd board will either let Martial come to us or potentially see their manager storm off in a huff.

Onions.
