Seems there’s no chance of him wanting to sign a new contract with us the, if this has happened. Although we had to do it before the end of the month I suppose.

Pochettino has confirmed the club will take the option to extend Alderweireld's contract by one year, making the defender available for £25M next summer until 14 days before the transfer deadline.

That is Toby off in summer for 25m then... if he hasn't signed yet, he isn't going to is he?

If someone is willing to match that and his wage demands. He will be 30 then. A few more years left in him but they wont be able to sell him on and recover the £25m.
Or maybe he'll be happy to stay one more year and leave for a free getting a bigger signing on fee.

Also, am I missing something? If we hadn't extended someone could have signed him for free at the end of the season but now we've triggered the extension someone can buy him for £25m on January 1. Is that correct?!

No from june 30th. And 14 days before the transfer window shuts.

Cheers, that's not so bad then in the circumstances. Still hoping he's planning on heading abroad though.

If utd don't get in the cl would he go there? Guess if the money was right.
City? Maybe.
Liverpool? Maybe. These two seem to be looking at younger players now though.

Spanish clubs might be wary as he couldn't get into atleticos side.

Psg? Maybe.

I'm thinking juve might be favourites. Although his wages would be massive for them.

He wants more than anyone is on at byern.

This wasn't just any old Atletico side? This is a side containing Godin which reached the Champions League final.

Toby was just a young player at the time who wasn't considered one of the world's best defenders.

So? The clubs that will have to want him will be wanting to win the champions league. Toby wasn't a child then he was mid 20's and just because we in this country think he's one of the best defenders in the world doesn't mean the rest of the world share that view. His wage demands mean that he will be in the top 10 best paid cb's in the world. Not saying that teams wont pay that just that there wont be many. Madrid and barca may jump at the chance but i'm not 100% they will. If atletico got him he would be their third highest player.

I'd put City near the top of the list. Kompany out -> Alderweireld in
