Id be gutted to see Toby leave and not getting Martial would be annoying as we are selling them Toby, But are we really strengthening them? We finished behind them without Toby playing most of the season.

Can't help but now think that if they get toby and we dont get martial that united have won, similar to City last season.

This is why Levy is the business man on here and not any of us, its not about winning and losing and in football many managers/chairman cut their nose off to spite their face. Remember Berahino? obviously a different class of player to Toby but by not selling this year and not playing him next season we are winning nothing but a dick slinging match with one of the biggest clubs in the world. They will sign someone else and we lose money.

You do what’s best for your team, full stop. If selling Toby is what you deem necessary and it just so happens that a rival is the one offering the most money then you sell to the rival.

You worry about you, not them.

Just a snippet for Talkshite :-

ESPN say United had hoped to tie up a £55m deal for the defender, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sanction the deal has seen his asking price rise to £70m.

Those claims are now backed up by Belgian paper Het Laatste which suggests a €79.8million deal could be tied up in the coming days.

Kristof seems to very informed with all things Belgium

But what about the perception to the other players? It could be the second time in two summer windows where we have sold one of our starting eleven to direct rivals without getting anything in return, Woolwich got mhkhitaryan for Sanchez but we're again due to get nothing? I just don't like it.
I'm not for one second suggesting we don't know what we're doing with regards to the transfer window, it's just a bit demoralising as a fan to see this happen again.

we're getting 80 million euros - you can buy someone else as good as Martial for that and have some change left over.

Selling Walker didn't win City the league title.

We sell the players we want to sell. We will sell TA to Utd but we will smash our wage structure to keep Kane and not sell him to Utd. Im sure they would love to buy him but we are never going to sell him to them.

I think that's the truer perception.

We've made a long term bet on Sanchez. He will get better and better. And the £40m we spent on him was near enough what we got for Walker. Unhappy older player out, outstanding younger player in. We did fine on the Walker deal.

I will think you will find that most players will be with the player, and getting £70M for Toby in his situation is hardly nothing.

By nothing i mean no player in return, I fully get that 70m would be a lot it's more than I think anyone would expect, and yes I know poch wants rid and I'm glad levy is doing what he wants, but I think we got to at some point stamp our foot down and say "if you want our player then we want one of yours" which is clearly the case here with our interest in martial.

This report's timing is odd though. Can't see the deal getting done before the WC - or why United would risk it from an injury stand-point.

I am guessing United have scouting reports from Belgium saying Toby looks fit, and playing well, and maybe they don't want to miss out if Toby plays well, and one of the other big clubs comes in after the WC.

United concede few goals. I think Jose wants Toby at any cost because he's the elite route one centre back. He'll be pinging diagonals to Rashford weekly
