He surely must have his pick of clubs, for me he has been our most consistent player and probably player of the year.

25m is so cheap for a player of his caliber.

The way he plays as well, he probably has another 3/4 years in him. Absolute professional to boot.

All i can say is good luck to him, excellent player with only one injury troubled season.

Would love him to stay, but i doubt he will. He will have his choice of clubs.

We would have been so fucked without him this season.

To be honest I’d be fine if he stayed for another, gave his all and left on a free contract next year.

We’re only going to get £25million anyway and Toby AND Eriksen leaving feels like too much of a seismic shift for our starting 11 in one window.

Wish somebody would only give me 25 million :(

I really wouldn't be surprised if we end letting his contract wind down. That's not to say Levy won't be open to 25M offers. 'Cos it makes financial sense to get something in return. I suppose it depends on his relationship with Poch. Which -- as has been alluded to on multiple occasions by ITK -- was a bit tense the year before. No idea why, but it sounds like he did something to annoy the coach. I guess if they've made up, I can see Poch wanting him to stay for another season before fully committing to Foyth and Sanchez. Also allows us to focus rebuilding efforts this summer in some key areas on the field (RB, midfielders). Then next summer, focus on CBs (as it could be that both he and Jan leave next year).

I dunno which way this will go. I just know that without him this year, we would've been a world of hurt.

Not sure how we would do that. Toby dictates it. If he wants to go he can go for 25M. Nothing we can do about it if that offer comes in.

Totally agree, at only £25M (which we have to accept) there will likely be plenty of cash for any interested club to offer a big fat signing on fee, plus a decent wage.

Granted that will be true next year, but a year is a long time in football and Toby may change his mind quite quickly once his agent starts holding fists of £££ under his nose.

His agent is his dad no?

Toby will sit tight for another year and go on a free id say simply too much money in it for him.

I doubt it.

£25m for a club to steal a march on their competitors and sign him straight away, is too tempting.

Plus, most of the big-boys would pay him want he wants as well as the transfer fee.

Still would love him to sign a new deal btw

Herc has stated previously that no club was willing to match what his dad asked for, 200kpw, we shall see.

The problem with Toby is he's not getting any younger and every year he doesn't sign he's losing out on around £4-5m of salary he could have gotten had he signed that deal with us.

Would that trade off be worth it to get on a free next year, when any contract offer would be even shorter?

I hope we can get round a table after the final and agree an extension, but if he really is motivated by money moving this summer probably makes most sense.

It's just whether any other clubs see value in £25m plus big wages over say 3 years, which may seem a no brainer to us fans but isn't how most clubs think these days. They'd rather pump 2-3 times as much into a De Ligt or Skrinniar.

It's a shame that for Toby it really is all about money. There aren't many clubs which are a step up from Spurs from a sporting project perspective. It's his last big contract, but I just can't imagine a club paying him 200k + a week when he is 30 years old.

hmmm personally i would love him to stay but i can absolutely understand if he leaves. truth is that a player of his calibre, in this day and age, should be commanding double his current salary.

i think if i was him, i will leave regardless.

if we win the CL, that means i've achieved the pinnacle of football with this team, time to secure the bag, the last big paycheck

if we dont, then i will go to a bonafide contender that will pay me, eg, bayern, juve, manc. these top clubs ( just like us) can contend every year, and also pay me.

The only reason i will stay is if we win, AND spurs decides to pay me what I'm worth.

"I'm going to say the same thing that I've been saying for the past couple of years,” Alderweireld said when asked about his future.

“The only focus is Spurs, because of this focus I think I had a good season as well. I have one year left on my contract, so in my head, I will play for Spurs next season."

How does one read this? Is he going to sign a new contract.....or is he running his contract down?

Having just read Ali Z's ITK he is not going to sign a new contract. It seems he was offered a good deal, but turned it down. The question is....will he go or will he stay to run his contract down?....Bad blood somewhere

Toby is nuts not taking £165k from us IF true. Teams were hardly queuing up last season, there's no guarantees anyone will pay him that on top of £25m. That's a £50m package over 3 years just to match that offer. Unless he's been tapped up by someone I just don't see it.

A bid of 25M for a club like Man U would be a no brainer to them. Even Liverpool might fancy that if they let Lovren go. If it seems that he won't sign a new deal with us then I can only see him leaving this summer.

I wonder if they'd match it if he was on a free though? Some big European clubs might not want to pay £25 million AND £200,000 a week, but would happily pay those wages without the transfer fee. Look at Aaron Ramsey - no way would Juve pay £40 million for him last summer but now they're seemingly happy to cover his huge wage packet.

That said, surely someone will come in for him. Just depends whether he'd rather go somewhere like Utd this summer, or wait a year for the chance of signing for a European giant like Juve or Bayern who are on the lookout for even more of a bargain.

He may stay and find his playing time severely limited next season as Sanchez cements his place, making the running down of his contract a mistake, doubts if he misses the extra monies, a millionaire many times over.
Also, Toby may well have decided to move already and is saying nothing, hoping to keep his place for the CL final.
