:D

If I were happy with your skewed view of things, your ratio or your rationale, whatever, i'd hardly have been arguing the toss now would I?

I'm being trolled and you're not very good at it. But come to think of it, we've been here before haven't we? :D

No it is called a discussion, it what stops a forum from a being a reach around echo chamber.

Janssen has been pretty disappointing though. No amount of statistical gymnastics will change that.

He had a run in the team when Kane was injured, and never looked close to even a tap-in. Smashed his penalties in well, but he's got the energy of a stoned slug. I think he has a good footballing brain in terms of creative decisions, but playing in slow motion doesn't help.

Doubt he'll get many more opportunities barring a Kane injury. Who knows what will happen though. Maybe he'll score the winner in the FA Cup final and become an instant legend.

I don't think anyone could disagree he's been disappointing. What I object to is writing off a young player who hasn't even had a full season yet, in a new league no less

So a £17 million striker failing to score a single outfield goal in any format (32 games) for us does not represent abject failure and warrant a place with the likes of Balaban, Alves, Soldaldo etc as one of the worst high profile striking failures in the league then seriously what does? There was absolutely no issue taken with such comments directed at the likes of Rasiak ( or the likes of Paulinho or Gilberto in other areas) so why are other certain players such as him off bounds?

And I have been entirely consistent on this absolutely I would be saying he same whatever the shirt he is wearing. What I cannot understand is the level of ire making such comments illicit or why we should wait to have our opinions of a player validated by the club first before passing comments.

Do you really think if he started performing and scoring that such comments would continue? When the facts change so will opinions but he simply isn't doing anything to change that. If anything judging by their comments even the management are giving up on him which makes such continued commitment to him by some all the more surprising .
It's not 32 full games though.

He has only played 619 mins in the league, to put that into perspective, Berbatov only scored 1 (sames as Janssen) in his first 619 league minutes.

Nobody is pleased with his play, but I can't wrap my head around the logic around consistently slating a young player who gives it an honest effort every time he plays for our own club. He may never get better but there are enough reasons that have already been mentioned, to believe there is a possibility that janssen could improve. And that's what is important to remember not the player he was this year but the player he could be next year.

every player could improve (synergistic effect with teammates, tactical changes etc.), it is not video games in which the abilities are fixed quantitatively.

Because some people are more interested in scoring points on the forum and being proved right.

Frankly people are entitled to the view that he isn't good enough.

We all see players play and sometimes you see a star and sometimes you see a dud. Sometimes we are right and sometimes we are wrong.

So I am more than happy for people to share their view he isn't of the quality required.

I personally just want to see him have a full pre-season and chance next season to assess. I haven't seen enough to really have made up my mind.

Of course they are and i'm not sure anyone has said different.......but.........This (now) isn't about that though is it? :D

There are a couple of people who won't have it that they MIGHT be wrong........

When you get people making stuff up and or posting with a certainty and finality that doesn't allow for argument then you're going to get, well, argument :D

Will be interesting to see if we look to sell and replace him in the summer or if the management have faith he will come good and just needs time

I suspect the former - although even if we do want to sell it will depend how much of his fee is tied in by unmet clauses and how much of a loss we are prepared to swallow

I know it's Levy but in financial terms we got him on the fairly cheap, even now we'd prob get £10-15m to another Prem club. Not much of a loss*, really

*it really is a mad world the £2-7m is not much of a loss these days. It's a crazy world in the Premier now and the money that gets thrown around.

Sorry but there clearly are many posters who do have a problem with others writing him off so this is partly about that.

Some people write very strongly and see things more black and white than others. The forum is about discussion, debate and pooh, without strong opinions we will struggle with the first two.

I think we'd do very well to get more than 10m for him

Constantly slating is pretty pointless, but equally I don't see what's wrong with genuinely believing a player to be shit. Janssen's played over 1000 minutes for us, plenty of time to assess a player. So if someone had watched all that and decided they think he's shit, I don't see what's wrong with that. Let's be honest, every non spurs football watcher thinks he's shit so hardly a controversial opinion.

I guess we have massively different views then don't we? I don't think you've touched on anything there that's relevant to this latest spate of bollocks :D
