With Dier and Wanyama in central midfield? :(
I'd play winks over Dier on his current form. He's been pony lately tbh. Got absoloutely bossed by Chelsea and was anonymous bs Burnley. Shame we didn't get Gomes as Wanyama and Dier together is too defensive really unless we play 5-3-2 or 3-4-2-1 then we kind of need the 2 holding CDM's.

In 4-2-3-1 we need 1 CM to go forward a bit.

Janssen hardly had a big rep. Basically one season of professional football before we bought him. £17m is dirt cheap for a centre forward.

This is the problem with bringing in players who've done well in the Eredivisie. You never quite know if you're bringing in a Kezman or a Van Nistelrooy. A Suarez. or a Van Wolfswinkel.

Is Winks ready to start games though? Got pulled from international duty to avoid too much stress on his ankle if memory serves me right.

For me the argument is between those three anyway. Seems there's no strong reason to have Gazzaniga in there, and then all this would have been avoided.

Only have to name two 'keepers, if one is injured for longer than 30 days you can call another one in.
Has anyone mentioned the Turkey transfer window is open to Fri 8th. Poss chance of a sale or loan for Jansen

It begs the question did spurs actually know that? Poch needs to answer this. Makes zero sense

Until one side personally tells the story, the press is just sensationalising the whole saga.. Why am I not surprised our club is often tainted in the press..

We gave him his chance in the premier league but it didn't work out in which case we bite the bullet and part company that seems reasonable to me.
He came to us on the strength of a four year contract, he is entitled to see out that contract, as long as he tries his best and makes himself available for selection he fulfils his contract.
If we want to move him on, eventually when he accepts his time is up, he is entitled to a say in where and when he goes, that also sounds reasonable.
I suspect that he was ready to go along with a loan, perhaps even to Brighton, but come the point of no return he decided it wasn't for him and there's nothing we can do about that, the downside for him is that he isn't in our plans and that is probably becoming clear to him now.
I am pretty sure that is why he hasn't got a spot in the CL squad, its not punishment it's just Poch not changing his plan.
In my opinion Janssen has accepted that he is going to have to move on and decided to work on where he would like to go without the need to decamp to the south coast for four or five months.
I also suspect Levy would have promised Brighton the loan once we'd signed Llorente, if he is angry I suspect that would be why, he wouldn't want to have to break his promise.

The only disappointment from Janssen for me is he did not come from preseason being leaner..

And I think that is one reason Wimmer not in Poch good books too..

I agree GlacierSpur. Was at the PSG game in Orlando early in preseason. They had to go out and do full length sprints after playing 45 minutes (and it wasn't that hot). He was lagging behind the rest of the guys just at average pace running and then he was noticeably out of breath and doubling over after each sprint. His running style was awkward but it was clear he just wasn't in the same physical condition as the other guys.

Disappointing because I still think he has something there that could make a good striker in the Premier League.

The step up has been too big for him. Yet another one Mitchell got badly wrong.

Not going to blame the player because he was playing lower league football in holland only 2 years ago. That was the clue really despite him being holland's first choice striker.

What "clue" are you referring to? That he was playing in The Netherlands was indicative that he wouldn't make it?

Lower league football in the Netherlands only two years ago I believe was the rather patently obvious 'clue' he is referring to

If you're good enough you're good enough and you can step up. But he's saying perhaps it was too quick

Thanks for sharing. That's inexcusable really. It's one thing to not be the quickest - fair enough... but to be completely fucked when the others are still going. Not good enough.

That he was playing Dutch second division football 3 seasons ago. That's a pretty big jump to the premier league by anyone's standard.

Dele was playing league 1 three seasons ago. Hasn't stopped him being the best young player in the league and probably top 3 in Europe.

Granted it's different acclimatisation coming from a different country but if you work hard enough you'll be rewarded. Not to say Janssen hasn't worked hard, I don't watch him train, but if you read what IOMLS has said about the PSG game, well it says a lot about why he's not really in Poch's plans.
