It's a good decision. He's not cut it and we can only register 21 + have Kane, Llorente and Son as strikers so no need for him whereas if Toby or Jan get injured we may well need Foyth. Also Foyth should be a big part of our future hopefully, unfortunately VJ won't be. It's soldado mark II. Shame but lesson learnt.

‘Tottenham’s leadership attempted to push a transfer with all force’, according to the claims, and he was told to cooperate with a transfer or face no chance with the senior team at Spurs.

Patrick van Diemen and Louis Laros of the Dutch player’s union are said to have stood behind Janssen and backed his refusal of a ‘lightening quick’ transfer.

After refusing the West Brom and Brighton moves, De Telegraaf say the chance of Janssen ‘getting minutes in Tottenham’s shirt is almost nil’, and they add ‘Tottenham will make it so sour that he’ll have to choose a transfer to save his career during the winter break.’

Maybe it would have been better to deal with the situation at the start of the window? Just a thought.

I watched the Holland V
I'd like to know how much Poch actually watched of him before sanctioning the buy. I mean it's not Janssen's fault he's not good enough, he simply doesn't have enough tools. So it kinda of reflects bad on Poch if he watched him and agreed to sign him up.

That's a fair point and it highlights a problem we seem to have had for a while, bringing in foreign imports with big reputations who seldom deliver the goods. Funny but when we buy cheaper, we seem to do better.

Bit of a shitty way to deal with it all tbh

Janssen hardly had a big rep. Basically one season of professional football before we bought him. £17m is dirt cheap for a centre forward.

He was one of the backups of plan A that was Batshuayi

This last minute business is why the loan window should be extended by a week. To give a player 1 hour to consider a loan is truly stupid. Maybe VJ thought the loan at brighton would not be a good career move as they havent exactly created a lot of chances for the front men in the last 3 games. I think they have created the least out of all the teams.

If that is indeed true then that's a poor way to deal with things, bit disappointing to hear that.

‘Tottenham’s leadership attempted to push a transfer with all force

What does that mean?

Asking £27m for him from West Brom hardly sounds like "all force". Asking £15m for him would have been "all force."

Ditto, trying to send him out on loan to Brighton is kinda the opposite of "all force"; it's half-hearted force, since we'd still have owned him.

Nor does all of this happening at the last minute prove anything because last minute is the MO of the transfer window. If anything, Spurs leaving it so late to try and get him out sounds like the definitional opposite "all force."

Something doesn't add up here. While it seems certain that Janssen's representatives were the source for the story, I don't see a lot of evidence in it that Spurs acted dishonourably.

Pathetic-Really? You don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Whilst Poch wants 3 strikers (adaptable), which I believe is why when he spoke to Poch before final decision to go out on loan to Brighton he stayed. Reason? Our WF did not materialise for various reasons.

We have 2 strikers, and Son as the 'adaptable' for the CL. There is your reason. Foyth, I personally can understand.

I'm sorry Hercules, but this simply shows a total lack of respect towards Janssen, and it really reflects badly on Pochetino IMO. Son being adaptable means nothing really... we also have Dier who, according to Poch at least, is adaptable and can cover the CB spot if needed (in fact, he has done so way more Than Son playing as a striker). I don't want to say this, but I really hope Foyth's nationality has played no part in Pochetino's decision.

THFC signed a contract with Vincent Janssen... if he chose to stay for the possibility to fight for minutes on the field instead of going out on loan, then at the very least the coach should allow him the chance to actually fight.

Just my thoughts.

If your boss decided to fire you but due to the nature of your contract he couldn't or had to wait a certain period would you expect to be given important work or favoritism while that period ran down? Sports are different but I have worked in industries where beurocracy means non-disciplinary firings take a long time to go through but when that happens bosses scale down and start to reassign task, not assign new work unless out of options. Doesn't mean Janssen has been fired but clearly Poch wants him to start showing in games what he has to offer and recognizes that he can't carry him while he figures it out.

The "he is staying to fight for his place" is a romantic notion we assign which very rarely actually pans out.

Heard it all now. Suggesting a top quality manager, top professional like Pochettino. Would negate doing what's best for his/the club because he wants to do a favour for a fellow Argentine.

It's Mauricio Pochettino, not Morris Smith your local pub team manager who enjoys a can and a few rollies at pitchside during the game.

Reflects really poorly on the club imo.if you treat players like shit you can hardly expect loyality either.why should janssen be forced to either brighton or wba after only a year.he signed a contract to play for spurs.whilst he hasnt been great he has had very few opportunties.

I don't know about that, but if I was the boss, I guess I would try to get whatever value I can from my future ex-employee.

The only way this moves makes any sense is if Pochetino is fully convinced Janssen doesn't have anything to contribute with the squad at all, which would be absolute nonsense given that he's regularly called for the dutch national team (sure, they aren't much this days, but it proves he has some worth at the very least).

EDIT. Well, i guess there's also the possibility that Foyth is a player of such amazing quality that Pochetino couldn't bring himself to leave him out of the squad.
