People actually disagree with statements saying that Kane was shit when he first started in PL.
I remember him away vs. ManUtd in January under Timothy. Kane was so rotten, I would have preferred watching Bambi on ice over Kane on a football field.

Everybody writing off Janssen now will be very sorry they ever opened their mouth on the topic.

I know Poch has a good reputation for developing young talent but he isn't a miracle worker.Janssen hasn't really got any good attributes.

His attempt for that volley towards the end of the game, where i think it hits his standing leg? Was really very poor and made him look like someone from down in the lower leagues. I am not saying he's that standard in general, but by god that was poor.

Kane got average to below-average reports from Orient fans last season. Poor touch and vision, looks slow, decision making a bit off. He got a decent return for them though, and seems to always score for the youth. Hopefully he's been improving fast. I wouldn't get too excited about him yet. There's a reason he hasn't got much of a look despite his goalscoring record. Also, he is a deep-lying forward so not exactly the saviour we are after.

Hmmmm sounds like a certain Dutch forward we have on our books :LOL::LOL:

Good at holding up the ball and laying off to team mates. Positive things are there if you want to see them however small.

Its no secret that yes, Kane was absolute pants when he started off for us. I do recall many games when he'd be put on in the very latter stages of a game and offered nothing apart from hilarious hold up play near the corner flags.
In fact, I distinctly remember 1 particular game when we were under pressure not to concede the ball was punted up to young Harry and with pretty much the whole opposition half undefended with perhaps only 1 defender not too far from him, he took the ball and instead of running at the goal he literally darted towards the corner flag...Me and my son laughed our arses off that day! He was so crap he was a laughing stock.

Then something really did click and he started scoring goals and looked a real menace to defenders.
Really don't know what happened to him..I still wonder to this day, how is managed to happen so quickly but 1 day he just managed to score, and then it continued happening and his hold up play tremendously improved within the space of a few games. His vision started to improve remarkably and he was laying on balls for others that he had no right to do...He then managed to become the centre forward we were craving for, for years...in the blink of an eye...

Was it due to him being mysteriously visited in the middle of the night? Did nice-but-dim-Tim whisper something in his ear? I don't know, but theres no way Janssen will ever develop into anything like Kane so quickly as Kane did.

He's a proven goal scorer at his last club.

He's now playing in a newer, faster league against better opposition and has clearly shown
that he is still not up to pace yet.

He has some technical shortfalls but he is still young and under Poch's guidance, I'm
hopeful that he will improve just like how Poch has improved some of the other players in
the squad.

However I think he also needs to lose a little weight and improve his fitness levels.

He wasn't brought in to take over Kane but just as an understudy or cover, however
he has been unexpectedly thrown in at the deep end due to Kane's unfortunate injury so early in
the season.

I think we should give him the benefit of a full season before we judge him.

Why bother, the site experts have it down as done and dusted :D

He might fail, he might come good, but the way anything sensible such as what you've posted is just being tossed aside and ignored is breathtaking in its arrogance and ignorance.

Even in his early games in Eufa with Harry and AVB I rated Kane and could see what you all do now.check the thread I'm there. I see something in Janssen too, good sign. Although I was one of the Tommy Carrol fan club too...

This is the one thing that prevents me completely giving up on him.
He is young enough that he should be able to adapt, and he didn't cost and absolute fortune.
He also has only had one season of top flight football, in a league that's really not much better than the Scottish Premiership.
He has one season of football in a league considered top flight but is in reality probably not even up to championship standard, and we spend £19m on him to back Kane up. What on earth were we thinking?

We bought him as back-up and to develop as competition to Kane.

I dunno where this notion that he was going to come in and start performing immediately came from.

Yes he might not develop as the club expects him to but writing him off already is foolish. I still don't understand why some people feel the need to write off players so quickly in their spurs careers when Poch has been proven throughout his coaching career that he can improve players. Why do certain people want to leave themselves open to being called out if and when Janssen starts to realise his potential?

Same people who throw their toys out the pram and complain when people go back and search for their posts, this is the exact reason why I have no sympathy for them.

Just to be clear - is it ok to believe a player isn't all that good?

Obviously I don't mean pointlessly calling him names and stuff. But to watch him play, bear in mind all the stuff about him being new to the league etc, and genuinely believe he isn't particularly good. Or is that inevitably 'writing him off', or 'not supporting the team'?

For new members, this is how @yankspurs usually is. He went through a minor phase last season where he was positive, but he's now back to his normal ways. Feel free to hate him.
