I'd love to know who we could realistically afford who would guarantee us Son's numbers should we sell him?

I'd still like to see a 3-5-2 at some point with Kane and Janssen up top.

Maybe if one of our first choice midfielders aside from Wanyama aren't available.

It would be remarkable if Vincent is able to battle back into poch good book. Which would empower and validate poch's methods even more. Janssen still needs to work on his fitness, but at least now it seems he is showing commitment to his training and diet to regain pochs trust.
Curious, what's that about his diet and would be keen to read more if you have a source?

Don't want janssen sold! We should stick it out and give him another season!

Why? Why should a striker who hasn't scored a single outfield goal in any competition be given another opportunity? And why on earth would the club choose to open its self to such risk next season by continuing with a striker who is up there as one of the worst in PL history ? This unwavering support for him is utterly bizarre.

It is truly remarkable. He hasn't even shown the link up play and intelligence Soldado had. He isn't even as good as Pavlyuchenko.

Pochettino has preferred Son upfront to him this season and we have looked a better team with Son upfront than with Janssen.

What does he have that would make a good striker?

Finishing? Embarrassing
Touch and control? Ropey but acceptable
Pace? Nope
Movement? None or just drops into midfield and clogs things up
Link up play? Only okay
Pace? Nope
Intelligence? Only basic PL level
Leadership? Shys away and doesn't try and impose himself

He has literally nothing going for him. No saving attribute. I'd rather give someone like Sterling or Harrison his squad birth over keeping him.

Maybe we see something in him you don't? Maybe Pochettino sees something in training? Maybe his team mates rate him? Who knows? What I will say is that he's only started 8 games, played 860 minutes for us in total and got 4 goals (admittedly all from the pen spot). If you break it down that's under 9 full games and 4 goals, actually not a bad return for the minutes he has played.

I think I trust Pochettino over you, and your ratings are laughable. His hold up play has been good and he certainly hasn't shied away from defenders in any of the matches i've watched, if anything he looks for them too much rather than aiming for space and moving them around.

Sometimes I do wonder if people watch the same games as me......

It's the easiest thing in the world to just say such and such a player just needs time. The truth is, the people saying it have repeatedly been shown to be the amongst the poorest judges of players here. They have no idea what they're supposed to be looking for, none at all. And when they're proven wrong, they never apologize for the nasty comments and ratings they've given you. Never.

Janssen is simply not mobile enough. Anything else beyond that is irrelevant and it's why he'll be moved on in the Summer.

He shys away from the penalty area not defenders. He is so busy dropping deep and fighting with defenders he does not attack the box or get in positions to score.

I trust Pochettino too. He clearly does not rate Janssen.

Something about him I like! Said the same thing about Soldado though! Really hope he stays, gets in a full pre-season and gets nice and fit. Really still think he has something to offer us, especially his work-rate. I think he is just so desperate to impress, he makes small mistakes. It will come, Vincent, I believe in you.

Interesting quotes from Kane regarding Janssen against Everton and the importance of coming on and working hard. Reading between the lines it looks like Poch has praised VJ for his effort and attitude against Everton and hopefully this will be a good point to build off from him.

Unfortunately for Janssen he isn't going to get a run of 90 minutes to get some form. We've seen with Davies (predictably) that all he needed was a run of games to improve. It's the same with all players.

He's going to have to be content with 5/10 minutes here and there for the rest of the season I suspect if Kane stays fit so I really doubt we will see any improvement from him unless he can grab a goal from somewhere which might spur him on.

I said the same thing last week. If Dele picks up an injury then Poch should be brace enough to try it out. Although I suspect he'd replace him with Son because of his mobility being better.

I love the effort he gives and he's definitely better than what we've mostly seen IMO. When he did play I think we were still using our 4-2-3-1 and I remember earlier in the season that even when Kane was in that he wasn't playing great either.

I just think it would be nice to see him get a few more minutes with the best players possible around him in our more favourable formation. Like said though with the way Kane is playing and us only playing with one striker he's not gonna get many chances.

If he sells him in the summer, you're right. I don't believe he will, we will see

One of the most ironic posts in the history of SC. First Brexit, then Trump, now Uptownspur criticising peoples judgement of player abilities. Crazy, crazy times we live in.

No player I've been openly critical and not rated has ever gone on to be given a new contract by Poch. Not one. And by contrast, many players I've rated have been.

When I say "Janssen will be sold in the Summer" it's like virtual itk.

Edit: To clarify, I'm referring to this Summer, which seemed obvious to me but not to Charly.

We do most of our business in the summer. & you're not specific about which summer. So unless Janssen spends his whole career with us, or is sold in a winter window your prediction is a bit like saying "I predict it will rain." Mystic Meg need not worry currently.
