The thing with Bissouma vs. N'Dombele is that Bissouma's only going to give you 90% of the technical ability(which is still a fair fucking bit), 70% of the passing and playmaking. Tanguy is blessed with some otherworldly balance and talent, rare in the modern game.

But on the other hand, Bissouma is going to give you like 500% of the tackling, the workrate, commitment and aggression that Tanguy gave. He is a man who wants to dominate football matches and relishes duels. N'Dombele and Winks pissed themselves at those situations, Bissouma lives for them.

He is exactly what we need.
Totally agree.
Except 500% of Jack shit is still Jack shit...
But your pint holds, bissouma gives some bite, graft and box to box dynamism we need.
And, a real conte headache.. 2 (I think) from bissouma, bentancur, skipp, hojberg, sarr? Not bad problem to have...

Listen to this fucking mentality man. Confidence, that even borders on delusions of grandeur.

Love it.
He can get away with talking shite at Brighton - no-one is going to notice. With luck this interview just fades away.
Once he is at a top 4 club, any arrogant views will be echoed and amplified and stuck on the dressing room doors of every club (we) play.
Personally I think he should attend one of Sonny's dad's bread-and-water summer training camps, to settle him down a bit.

Did you actually watch it? I wouldn't say it was arrogant at all. . Confidence and a mindset to help himself improve and be the best.

I just want a midfield where we don't have to worry who is playing when we have injuries/suspensions and should still have a high level of control in all games

One thing that excites me is that he hasn’t played in a dominant team in his whole career.

Lille league positions when he was there: 11 and 17. Brighton league positions 17, 15, 16, 9. Mali is not a top African team.

The upside potential for him at Spurs when combining with players such as Romero, Son and Kane is exciting to think about.

In addition, I’ll probably have Bentancur/Bissouma as my starting midfield but seeing the improvement in Hojbjerg when playing with Bentancur and how he raises his game with Denmark, I think he will improve loads with Bissouma by his side and is likely to be more appreciated when the burden on him playing every game is lessened.

Think this was said in jest but

I would take a cocky, combative fucker who backs himself and wants to show other sides up

a MILLION times out of a million over a weak, moody, or disinterested midfielder like Winks or N'Dombele

I don't watch other teams like I used to, or any highlights shows. What sort of player have we got here?

Is he like a Palacios type player? An upgrade on Pierre? Or a box to box type midfielder?

Last time we played Brighton that Curcella (sp) looked decent to me but cannot remember Yves too much to be honest

he was the best player against us the last 2 times we played him

Athletic, all action DM with excellent control, tackling, ball retention, dribbling and a wicked shot on him. Bit like Kante and a bit like Dembele.

Him and Rice are the best CM's in any team not in the top 6

So, I’m watching Leeds v Brighton gw37.

I would describe Bissouma as a “cleaner”. He is definitely the deepest of the CMs and his primary role is reading the game and breaking up play, and also covering for any other defensive lapses.

He is not really used in possession. He generally makes himself available but his teammates rarely pass to him. But when called upon he makes smart decisions with the ball - so I think this is just a function of Brighton’s tactics than anything else.

Ironically he does get the assist on the Brighton goal - but it all comes about with a Bissouma tackle in his own end, he then also recovers the ball from 10 yards away, carries the ball forward makes a simple pass to Welbeck who beats a man and scored.

@Bluto Blutarsky noticed the same thing from watching him this season. We're going to be underwhelmed if we're expecting a rangy passer who initiates attacks and breaks lines with his passing. His passing is OK, but 90% of his passes are simple, short clean-up passes and nothing more than ball recycling. Of course, he doesn't play this way for Mali or under Hughton, and is a function of the two midfielders in front of him in the CM3 of Brighton's.

The clean up role is definitely is where his best attributes shine. He is actually Kante-like, in every sense of the comparison. His dribbling and body control are incredibly good, he's press resistant, confident in every duel, and he is an aggressive ball carrier.

But there's a reason he's only 25m and it ain't just the court case or one year deal. He isn't an elite passer and doesn't get into the box much for my liking. I wonder if a Skipp-Bissouma or Hojbjerg-Bissouma pairing would play out dynamically. He has the potential to play further forward and playmake, but his passing is very conservative most of the time.

When do the players report for training?

Can probably add 10 years to that. This is like when they pipped us to 4 when they moved stadiums. It set us back massively. They are struggling to tie down some of their over inflated egotistical youngsters. Next season there will be an improved united (surely they can't get worse) Newcastle going to spend. We will be improved as will Chelsea. In 2 seasons times 5th will be getting CL. They will be scrapping for 7th/8th and if they lose a couple of their talented youngsters like Saka or Martinelli in the next couple of seasons the club will become really toxic. Does a club with serious ambitions really give Nkethia 100k a week. Lunacy. They blew their one shot at getting back in to the top 4. They are 7th or 8th in attractiveness as a club in the Prem. They are finished
