He isn’t though. PEH would get absolutely slaughtered in this system because he can’t take the ball under pressure, and he isn’t even good positionally. We play dangerously now and whether you rate bissouma or not, he can play in that style much better than PEH.
In theory yes, his strength of taking the ball under pressure on the half turn breaking the opposition press is the key to a lot of our attack at the start of the season but he doesn’t do that anymore, he’s hardly coming deep to get the ball, we couldn’t play out for large period of the game due to no one wants to take the ball under pressure and when he’s not doing what he’s supposed to be doing then I am not sure what’s the point of playing him.

Good player but off from so PEH probably deserves a start but think we need an upgrade on both this summer as both have their flaws.

I was so excited when we signed him , whenever we played against Brighton he was the stand out player but he’s been unrecognisable since he’s played for us . Almost feel sorry for him that he’s starting cos he looks so lost .

No he can't, clearly. We look way more solid with Hojbjerg because he sits behind the ball, and his position is WAY better than Bissouma's, who is basically just running around without any positioning.

Weird take when PEH is clearly doing better when he comes on, and the team as a whole is clearly better.

Ederson isn’t a DM, he’s an 8. We’d have the same issue with him we have with Bissouma imo.

We need a proper defensive 6 who is also good on the ball.

We need a player in the mould of prime Wanyama in the 16/17 season. He literally sat in front of the defence, read everything defensively and broke up play constantly whilst still being part of our build up. It’s no wonder we only conceded 26 goals that season with him at his best at DM.

Call it what you want, but the way he played against Liverpool looked much more like what we need than whatever Bissouma is.

Yeah a Wanyama/Kante type is what we need, if he's not that then fair enough - not a player I've seen that much of.

Maybe we should just keep PEH, he's only 28.

You could put the best holding midfielder in the world on our system and they would fail. He's not playing well and should be dropped, but just putting another player in his place isn't going to suddenly make us good defensively.

On a serious note, he is one of those players who has excellent spells where he looks so good on the ball.

However, Brighton fans did say he has periods where he drops off.

At his age, it's a now or never situation. He has to become more consistent.

I see 3 areas where he needs serious work.

1. Passing ability - he's not someone who can spray it around like Rodri or any other decent 6/playmaker hybrid.

2. 1v1 at speed. Excellent at turning out and beating the press in short distances but when he drives the ball toward a defence he doesn't have that ability or confidence to just go for it so makes a safe sideways pass.

3. Defensive nous. He sleepwalk back into position sometimes rather than instinctively knowing where the most dangerous position is.

I believe that in Ange's system, this may be the most important position because if the 6 can do the aspects I mentioned, they can make us less susceptible to counter attacks but also move the ball faster/better in offensive transition or build up.

Bissouma gives off Adebayor, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Aurier and Ndombele vibes… has the talent but not the mindset. There shouldn’t be any place in Ange’s squad for players with a lax attitude.

Felt sorry for him. He was trying keep Newcastle at bay on his own in midfield. Both Maddison and Bentancur were giving him little practical support.

No. No he doesn't give off any of that vibe. In fact the players you mentioned don't even have the same "vibe". There is nothing at all that links Kaboul and Ekotto for instance. Except one thing.

A very good player playing badly.

I want Bentancour there. That first half against Villa he was majestic at dictating play.

I’m not sure that is fair on Biss and the players you mentioned all had different behaviours, Adebeyor caused some issues and we all know about Ndombele but Aurier, Benoit and Kaboul were all pretty good professionals so bit of an odd post tbh and aside from some slip ups earlier in the season I don’t think Biss has an attitude problem particularly at all, he’s worked really hard to get back from a serious injury last season, he seems to me to be trying every match and he’s just a bit off form lately for whatever reason also likely still recovering from malaria.

Sorry but bit of an odd post tbh.
