As far as hurting the team goes - losing Jennings - took a while to recover from that

Losing Roberts - we never recovered from that - I reckon we'd have won a trophy in 87 had he stayed - maybe 2

Losing Gough - never recovered from that

when I say never recovered - obviously we didn't go bankrupt - but major losses pre that vital Italia 90 & Sky time - who knows how much richer we might be now if if if

there was a gap in the market - had we kept Gough & Roberts the way Arsenal kept Adams & Bould who knows where we could have gone

Klinsmann the first time round

Ardilles the first time round cos of the Falklands - a player at his peak driven out for non-football reasons

personal losses for me but acceptable in club terms

Greaves - as TCO said - it was the end of an era - But it was a good move in the long run

Hoddle - my all time fave - but Glenn wanted to go - and it was good for him - and by getting in Gazza we didn't suffer too much

I wouldn't say my world's ever fallen apart after we've sold players, but Campbell and Carrick both hurt some.
