Given all the talk regarding Berbs (potential) imminent departure, I ended up thinking of the times when I have most missed a player that has left our beloved club.

So, during your time as a Spurs supporter who have you been saddest to see leave us for pastures new and why?

I can think of many - Jurgen, Teddy, Daveed, Waddle etc etc but for me I hated losing Gazza most. His stay with us coincided with when I truly started to develop a passion for football. And I don't think I have ever seen someone play live as gifted since.

Carrick, Teddy and Sol for me.

Gawd the years we could have had from Campbell and King at the back, instead of a mess.. Makes me sad, so I'll stop...

Yeah, i'm going through a phase of pluraling singulars. It's quite funs, especially when you drop them in in conversation. People don't really understand.

Waddle and Carrick, because in both cases we were on the point of building something special. How awesome would a team with Waddle, Gascoigne and Lineker have been? How would Berbatov have thrived on the service provided by Carrick?

For me, without a doubt it was the shocking loss of John White, struck by lightning, back in 1964 aged only 27. He was such an integral part of the 60s team, especially the Double side, and was so talented.

Ironically dubbed "The Ghost of White Hart Lane" because his slight figure seemed to appear from nowhere to find spaces to set up (as well as score) some superb goals.

He was my favourite player and his perfect ball control skills remain hard to equal.

Waddle, Lineker, Gazza, I was very young when those guys left so the players mean more to you (as they are still heros) where as now I have the opinion that it is the club I support and the players come and go.

I was about 14 when Klinsmann left, pretty gutted about that too actually.

The only reason I am sad if a player leaves now is if it is to the determent of our team, Carrick has clearly set us back, as no doubt would Berbatov (although hopefully this time smart reinvestment and team development would see us grow stronger in the long run like Everton have with the sale of Rooney)

Glenn Hoddle went he got mugged off to Monaco.

Waddle - why?

Lineker - proved we aint a top club by letting him go.

Gascoigne - backed my theory up. (Although by this time we were broke.)

Ginola - wrong manager for this genius - if only we could have got Martin O'Neill...

Greaves, end of a dynasty.

I know we got Peters but JG was the very epitome of my childhood football timeframe.

Over the last few seasons its been Ginola and Carrick.

These players stand out because we didn't have anyone who would come into replace them.

I wasn't that gutted about Campbell because we had King who was coming through.
